Weather channel was downplaying it this morning saying it seems it will only be a weak cat 1. They’ve been pushing it as reaching Cat 2 status but that seems unlikely.

Tangipahoa parish president said last night around 11 that lower Tangi could get up to 10 inches of rain. I find that hard to believe if no rain is on the west side of this storm.

. Robbie Miller is a idiot. His only goal is to siphon money from the southern end of parish to spend on the north end.

Just got back from vacation last night. Grass needs to be cut pretty badly, but it's been raining all weekend. Is it safe to cut this afternoon in Metairie?

It's a mess this morning. Center out west of the main convection. It doesn't look ready to make a run to hurricane right now.

Gordon continues to struggle and the 12z Global models from yesterday did a good job of highlighting that conditions across the Gulf wouldn't be favorable for strengthening. NHC is still sticking with a hurricane at landfall but it will probably be pretty hard to confirm any hurricane conditions on land.

There appears to be very little in the way of wind on the western side of the system and rainfall totals look to be low. Overall, the GFS probably did the best with this system.

Sort of off topic, but why do people wishcast? I’ve never for the life of me understood why someone would want a powerful hurricane on their doorstep.

Tall think the fish will be biting today? I’ve always heard of people cleaning up right before storms come through.

It's because seeing a hurricane rip in with the high winds is fricking cool.

The property damage and power outages get forgotten about.

Yet Cosmo said his "gut" told him it would be a Cat. 3.

Alot of college kids on this message board.. Might be hoping for a day off of school or work, to sit in an apartment that someone else owns... and lord knows for LSU to close school, it has to be Cat 6 and land directly on Tiger Stadium

Why does it matter? It doesn't change the wx. Outside of the trolls, most posters in these threads on here appear to be making an honest effort to contribute. Everyone has biases that influence their thinking and that comes across in some post.

I don't get that either. Many of us have been through enough of them to know that not having power and/or water for days coupled with the heat can be a real bitch.
