The tropical storm warnings go all the way out to WBR and Iberville. You think they'll start to peel those back on the west side later today?

I was in Biloxi staying at a friend's house on the beach. Not exactly ideal vacation weather

I was supposed to drive from Houston to NO today and have a meeting in Hammond tomorrow, and meetings in New Orleans Thursday. I can move my Hammond meeting to the next week if need be. Should I do that and wait to drive to New Orleans tomorrow afternoon ? Making sure I have the best play here.

I dont see inbound traffic being an issue. This will be a weak storm so your meeting would be good to go.

No A/C for several days is miserable, but the lack of running water for an extended period of time will push you to Jack Nicholson in the Shining level.

Since I don’t have one already, I’ll just go get one now. Great idea.

The Weather Channel hasn't changed their website to the "red alert" color scheme.

I'm so used to them declaring the apocalypse with every storm.

as of yesterday afternoon Walt was there and trying to decide whether or not to stay or go. I bet he stayed.

Casinos only close if there’s a mandatory evacuation. And even then, they don’t want to.

New round of storms firing near the center with very little signs of shear in the cirrus pancake. Gordon might be trying to make one last run.

Depends on what you need to happen. If you're looking for an excuse to cancel, you could. If not then I wouldn't worry about Hammond and you could keep your meeting.

Now just need them to change their graphics on that storm surge simulator - you know, that one that assumes that everyone builds their house such that 1 inch of storm surge ends up in their kitchen.

Just got back from vacation last night. Grass needs to be cut pretty badly, but it's been raining all weekend. Is it safe to cut this afternoon in Metairie?

Depends on what kind of masochist you are and how long it is.

If you’re like me, a higher than average morning dew and I’m postponing that shite for at least 2 days. My yard needs to be mowed right now but we’ve been getting the usual little rain storms the last few days so now I’m officially postponing until post-Gordon.

On (what appears to be) the east side of landfall here, my postponing could possibly stretch to a week no problem

Whew, that’s a relief. Somebody tell all the forecasters, Hurricane hunters, and multi processor modeling simulations to take the day off. Some dude on TD got it all figured out.
