Great move for the dad to keep his wife and daughter in there. Hopefully they keep him alive so he can suffer for the rest of his life

Probably people complained that the Cajun Navy was handing out beers to rescued people and not water.

If I rode out a hurricane I’d rather the beer

nothing sounds worse than having your arm amputated in a collapsed house during a hurricane

Having to cut your own arm off with a pocket knife?

quote:

ASPEN, Colo. -- His right arm was pinned beneath an 800-pound boulder. His water bottle was empty. It did not seem likely that a rescue crew could ever spot him in the narrow slit of Blue John Canyon, in the wilds of southeast Utah. So, after five days, Aron Ralston took out his pocketknife and amputated his arm below the elbow.

Then he rigged anchors into the cliff, fixed a rope and rappelled 60 feet to the canyon floor. Bleeding heavily through a makeshift tourniquet, Ralston began to hike.

He had walked about five miles when a helicopter search team spotted him Thursday afternoon on a trail through Canyonlands National Park, drained and dehydrated -- but still pushing forward.

We have absolutely no idea of the circumstances behind this decision.

And to be honest, there are people and boats in the Carolinas that are just as capable of helping out. It is great that the Gulf people are up for helping, but when it comes to these water rescues, there can be too many people out there. That is probably what happened here. Too many resources.

It's not that simple. He cut through the flesh of his upper arm with a dull pocket knife bc he couldn't reach the area around his wrist where he was pinned. Once he got through the flesh of the upper arm he had to snap the bones where he was trapped and pull his arm out.

Tropical Storm ISAAC
As of 18:00 UTC Sep 14, 2018:

Location: 15.3°N 67.6°W
Maximum Winds: 35 kt Gusts: N/A
Minimum Central Pressure: 1002 mb
Environmental Pressure: 1008 mb
Radius of Circulation: 120 NM
Radius of Maximum Wind: 40 NM

This was from Levi's site, so it looks like Isaac is back to a tropical storm. Now looking at Recon data it could also be declared an open wave as there is not a good surface circulation at the moment.

So did Kevin and the pole make it till dark and were lost during the night, was the feed lost during the night and it's possible it's still flying?

I think it's possible. As far as I know it was pretty tattered but still flying when it got dark. I don't think there is very much left of it but I choose to believe Kevin still flies.

Live feed went out and has not been restored. The owner of the FPT said he believes Kevin is still there and will retire it once he can get back out there sometime next week. The owner also said that he will donate the flag and put it up for charity. A company that makes flags has already donated a new flag to replace Kevin.

"Its only a category x storm"

No shortage of idiocy with things like this.
