When they say "center of the storm", do they mean the center of the eye?

quote:

storm surge and winds will extend hundreds of miles from the eye,

again, from the center of the eye or from the eye wall?

I guess they missed the direct center of the eye so they had to circle back to hit it

once they did find it... 947 mb... down 1 mb for the last pass (though still up 2 mb from the 1st drop)

Ridiculous of Washington Post to blame it on Trump this morning

We know who really controls those weather machines

Charleston was under a mandatory evac. It still may (don't live there so don't know).

So yea.

The new eye is becoming better defined as #HurricaneFlorence finishes its ongoing eyewall replacement cycle. This new eye is looking to be 2 degrees of longitude wide in diameter... or approximately 140 miles wide. Wow.

Couple of days ago people were saying it was crazy to evacuate Charleston, as this was CLEARLY going way north of there, even going so far as to criticize the S. Car governor on that.

Seems a lot of folks have been falsely lulled into an idea of the absolute precision of these models several days out. This one seems to be throwing a big wrench in some of those.

Its way its important to stay up to date. Things change quick.

Looks like some congestion starting in Charleston Beaufort and Hilton head on the dot cams. Not a lot though.

I can't believe that doomsday GFS model may actually happen. That really sucks.

Maybe they left already?? I'm sure hoping so. My dtr has a friend who goes to UNC-Wilmington. She checked with him Monday and he was packing up and heading out -- not sure where his family home is though.

Some are staying. But I was reading up on their evacuation planning. There’s a lot of ways out of town and still a relatively small population. To the point where they determined that i40 does not need contraflow and actually slows down evacuation times.
