It is for that part of the interstate. There is rarely heavy traffic through there.

So how far inland are these hurricane winds going to be felt?

As slow as it will be going, my guess is not that far. Plus there's a ton of friction so the winds you see just offshore don't actually show up as high on land. You can look at the modeled wind fields that show this. Now that said, sustained tropical storm force winds for hours and hours bc of the slow movement will still frick some shite up.

Here's the Euro at landfall. The highest winds stay just offshore bc of friction with land.

I hope all the resources that are going to be needed are all going to be positioned strategically.....

but I doubt it

You're right. I just checked the dot website and forgot the hwy 15 overpass bridge is 1 lane in both directions in bishopville.

Looks like 95 is relatively clear which is surprising

Hello mesovotrices. Isnt there a correlation between hexagon/pentagon shaped eyes and very strong storms?

SC governor reversed his evacuation order for 3 of the southernmost counties in SC.

And he is also allowing a very limited number of school districts to open up tomorrow.

I think he is trying to show us how to not prepare for an emergency.

If the city of Wilmington is ordered to evacuate
It already has.
Not as far as I know. I have friends in Monkey Junction (a local nickname about 4 miles from the causeway of pleasure Island-Carolina Bch.) UNCW evacuated days ago voluntary and then- in house college decisions made it official days ago.

If Wilmington is evaced you would see New Hanover County on the list. A lot of the projects/hoods are in Wilmington; and unless someone sends them a car and by force they never leave.

I have a feeling they will be mandatory soon if so they will leave I-40 west both ways out.

Here's a list of evacuation orders:

Mandatory:

Pamlico County
North Topsail Beach
Dare County
Tyrrell County
Brunswick County (residents who live in low-lying and flood-prone areas or substandard or mobile homes)
Ocracoke Beach
Currituck Outer Banks (visitors)
University of North Carolina at Wilmington
Atlantic Beach
Indian Beach
Emerald Isle Beach
Kure Beach
Pine Knoll Shores
Emerald Isle
Wrightsville Beach
Oak Island (visitors)
Holden (visitors)

Voluntary:

Bertie County
Onslow County
Surf City

I can only tell you what my friend told me. He's a doctor in Wilmington.

ETA: It's currently just voluntary.

Wilmington is not a place I'd consider riding this out in.

I think he is making a mistake about the schools. I still think it is going to track a little further south than the predicted landfall.
