Where is that? Doesn't look like much roof damage.

I’m just not familiar with that style really. That’s more of a gulf coast thing. I grew up and have lived my life on the east coast of FL, from way south to way north, and we really don’t have those here. Everything is basically concrete block on the ground, even right on the beach.

Pilings are def different than stilts. That’s impressive

That's nuts. I know I've seen it on the news (Previous Hurricanes), but when you really look into it it's more than, "well , that sucks." Also, one of those things that you forget till it's back.
It is.
People that say "I stayed for Hurricane _____________ so I'll stay for this one too" really mean "I was 100 miles from the center/coast of Hurricane _____________ and I'm clueless how bad it could have been."
People that actually stayed in the heart of Andrew, Camille, Katrina, Rita, etc. will never stay again.

In that same area was a home that was lifted off its piers, floated across the highway a hundred yards or so and then set on its side. There wasn't a broken window on it. If I can find the pic, I'll post it.

I'm from north of I 10 originally --- we didn't have hurricanes really affect us that I remember.
Moved south of Lafayette and when Lili hit in 2002, we were about 10 miles from the coast I was like what's the big deal -- I truly had no clue
My husband basically said shut up, pack what you need/want and we're out of here. Was glad we did.

Yeah I think there’s several people in here who don’t know the difference between pilings and “stilts”
If you're on pilings, you're probably OK as long as the water stays below you. As you can see from the picture you posted, even pilings won't save you if the water gets above the ground floor, hence the empty pilings next to that camp on the beach.

if the pilings or stilts fail, you lose your entire house. If you’re on the ground on the coast, you will definitely flood. One option at least gives you a chance

Good advice.
One more thing: they should use a permanent ink marker and write on each thigh their full name, street address and next of kin contact information. That will greatly assist the coroner....
We got them to leave. After the 3rd story of a Katrina evacuee that I treated at the PMAC, who had been stranded on a roof or on i10 for 6+ days, they got the picture.

Did you tell them about the roof snakes?

More recent microwave, feel safe in saying there's been an ongoing replacement cycle.

It was going to happen sooner or later. HWRF has been showing a massive eye for days now and spread out the windfield. What we're really hoping for is another one to get going about 3 pm Thursday.

You likely saved their lives. They owe you big time. Glad you were able to convince them.

11 PM AST update.
ETA - It's worth noting that the dotted area that captures SC and parts of VA are due to the forecast stall. Larger circles are drawn around the 8PM Friday and 8PM Saturday center fixes since they're 4 and 5 days out, but they don't necessarily imply a landfall in those areas.
