I’ve always wondered how an aircraft carrier would do in a storm like this.

I always wanted to do that. I believe there is an old air craft carrier in the river in Alabama that acts as a shelter. But the bottom is filled in with cement.

But riding in a big ship like that with 30'+ seas would be a sight. I would feel completely safe but also a thrill

It was just announced the first evacuations here in Virginia- parts of Hampton Roads & Eastern Shore starting at 8AM tomorrow. The VDEM map is loading slowly but will show you where the evacuation zones are located.

I saw that earlier on TWC, not surprised at all. I think I'm fine here, but was offered a place in Philly, but my Mom can't really leave, so I'm stuck.

More recent microwave, feel safe in saying there's been an ongoing replacement cycle.

Depending on how quickly she can clear out the old eye will determine how quickly she starts ramping up again. If she does, watch out.

Dillon sc (south of the eye wall projected path) is 30 miles away from Florence and 70 to myrtle beach.

Still going to have significant wind in both areas

Flying I assume?

As long as your flight leaving isn't after five, I bet you get through ok.

I was just at my friends beach house in surf city 4 days ago. He fears it might not be there soon.

30-40 MPH gusts expected in Charlotte around noon on Thursday. Planes fly in much worse, but who knows?

Anyone have a map of the potential storm surge? Seeing if I can be of help convincing someone to leave Kitty Hawk.

Obviously pretty pictures do the trick.
