I plan on kayaking to Miami from the Bahamas on Saturday. Should I be worried?

Nah you good baw. Just make sure you rig a sail up so you don't have to paddle as much.

Not really, what brand paddle do you use?

I wouldn't do that.
Get a small boat and put in around Jacksonville and ride the coast south. Much safer.

So Disney just holds their employees hostage while a CAT 4 hurricane pounds the coast just East of them?
I'm not sure holding hostage is the right term I mean hell they could always quit....but if your asking if people will be working at/getting paid to be at Disney during the hurricane then the answer to that question is unequivocally yes.
ETA I'm sure there will be guests in the resorts as well...although I'm sure the parks will be closed to guests during the storm.

So I ponies up the cash for what I believe to be a rapid variation of the 6z and 18z Euro for you baws. Unfortunately it only goes out 72 or so hours.
The 6z Euro is a bit faster than the 00z run:
00z
06z

I guess you're right and I'm wrong

While it is rare for Disney World to shut down the parks, a hurricane headed in that direction changes things drastically. Back in 2017, for example, Disney World altered plans ahead of Hurricane Irma, which was also a Category 1 when it arrived in the area. All four parks were closed for two days.

Disney World Closed its Parks for Hurricanes Matthew & Irma and Could Follow Suit for Dorian
quote:
Although Disney World tries to stay open, the safety of guests and cast members is of utmost importance. Back in 2016, Disney World closed all four theme parks when Category 3 Hurricane Matthew hit. Disney Parks were also closed for two days.
If the weather in the area is bad, Disney will more than likely close its parks and cancel all events for at least 24 hours. That decision will most likely be made if and when a hurricane warning is issued for the area.
Based on Dorian’s current track, the theme parks would most likely close on Tuesday, September 3, and/or maybe on Wednesday, September 4. Disney Springs would also likely close during this time, as it may not be safe to be outdoors.

I’m seeing that too. But the posters above say that’s wishcasting. Are we all looking at the same models? They have it crossing Florida and going in the Gulf briefly before hitting the panhandle.
None of the operational models are showing that.
A handful of ensemble models, which are basically just alternative simulations with tweaked assumptions, are nothing to worry about for now.
There are more out to sea ensembles than GOM ones on the Euro.

A new ensemble run shows a few new outliers farther west and people on here be like: SEE! ITS TRENDING WEST INTO THE GULF!
Posted on 8/30/19 at 9:46 am to Cosmo
No casual person with zero weather knowledge knows wtf ensembles are and which ones are legit or not. The pictures posted on the last page show more than just a few new outliers.

Your gut telling you that
No
Looking at models and the current set up and reading what more knowledgeable folks say.
The slower it goes the more likelihood it won’t get Into the GOM unless it comes in more South
