Anyone know why the pressure of this storm isn’t that low relative to wind speed?

997mb is more mid tier TS strength, not usually an 80 mph hurricane

I was referencing the storm earlier this Summer that hit dry air and fizzled out despite rainfall projections higher than the great flood of ‘16.

You realize storms turn north then NE right?

Yes, this one is forecasting to turn hard North and NE shortly after crossing Florida, hence the perceived luck to spare Louisiana.

The point is you can say all the storms that hit the gulf we have been lucky. What about Michael last year? Harvey the year before?

Would appreciate a continued local outlook. As I mentioned earlier, we've got a place outside of Ocala. Just Northeast of Fort McCoy (out in BFE). We're debating on making the 14 hour drive down in the next day or to if it looks like we need to do some emergency prep to the house.

The environmental pressure surrounding this area is pretty high, so relatively to what we normally see this storm's pressure will be high too.

True but a trend I’ve noticed in the past is the euro seems to be ahead of the curve and the GFS usually follows the trend of the Euro and rarely is it the other way around

Assuming I still have commercial power, I plan to send updates to this blog about what's going on in central FL.

I live here full time; 2 of my neighbors/friends are snow birds. Any time there is bad weather here, they get a post storm call. So far, even after IRMA, the calls were that was no damage, all shingles intact, etc.

I hope you have a similar arrangement with your neighbors.

Now wait a minute; you're wishing that off onto me, just so you don't have to put up with the thing.

Whether you or I (or both) get the full furry of this thing, I suspect I won't be either grilling or playing golf on Labor day.
