That's what I'm talking about 2 days it's gonna be gathered and heading towards the west. I was just curious as a general time frame how long it takes for Cape Verde hurricanes to make it towards the carribean/US before they stall, smash shite up, or change directions. Is there an average track time. Does it vary wildly or not? I'm just curious.

It's roughly 2 weeks for a full runner from a TS in the CV to the gulf.

Not that I’m complaining but what’s causing it to lose steam (wind speed) so fast. Wouldn’t think Grand Bahama would have that much affect on it. Is it sucking in dry air now?

probably the stall in shallow water.

but that is just a hunch by me. i'm by no means a weather guy.

It's stalled so it's sucking up cooler water from deep in the ocean. When they're moving they only suck the warmer water on top.

That makes perfect sense. Thanks.

While it sounds really cool and risky, flying into a hurricane is not as dangerous as it sounds. The real bad asses were the men who flew B-17s and C-47s through severe thunderstorms as part of the first serious research into tornadic weather in the 1950s.
