Disney’s Castaway Cay (their private island their cruise ships go to) may be wiped from the map.
Yeah, it's been hit before, but I was there in 2005 before then. That place is flatter than a pancake. If it gets hit with a 18'-23' storm surge, it'll be almost completely underwater.

I hope you Disney baws have gotten to experience Castaway Cay. It's about to become unrecognizable
It was my least favorite cruise stop ever, anyway. A made-up "destination" place. Just Disney's way of avoiding port fees and actually taking passengers somewhere else.

NOAA plane went right back into the eye and found a 4mb fall to 909mb relative to its 913mb reading 40 minutes before that.

If I lived along the coast due west of where this is I wouldn’t be waiting for this son of a bitch to turn north.

How strong can a hurricane actually get? Is 200mph possible or does it cap out at some point?

Eh, most people think they already suck...and you can fall back on the cone, so it’s probably not all that bad. You just need to be close in your prediction.

Didn't one in the Pacific hit 215 mph sustained a few years ago?

When you leave NOLA you realize 1) most places don’t flood like it does there.

Downtown Miami and Brickell floods just like the French quarter does and the suburbs of Miami that are near the everglades flood like the lower parts of NOLA.

That is true.

200mph I just looked it up. The strongest in Atlantic was Allen at 190mph. Patricia went form 85mph to 200mph in a 24 hour period. I would just love to know what is actually possible in terms of wind speeds over 200mph.

https://www.mountwashington.org/about-us/history/world-record-wind.aspx
The Mount Washington record was toppled in 1996 when an unmanned instrument station in Barrow Island, Australia recorded a new record of 253 miles per hour during Typhoon Olivia. Though the Observatory record fell, it’s a very human story, and it still stands as the highest surface wind speed ever observed by man.
