People like that should never have kids.

Too bad she didn’t figure that out sooner.

This coworker should never be promoted to manage people. Chances are she simply enjoys the authoritarian role too much and dogs are the only way to satiate her thirst for command and control relationships.

Either that or she’s just a disgusting woman who does nasty things with her dogs.

I like my dogs more than my kids some days but the parental love is more deep and complex than any other relationship I have ever had. That includes my wife who I am happily married to.

Maybe humans who don’t have actual children. Once you have a child, you see that love for that child transcend love for any thing or anyone else in this world.

Of course we love our dogs, but it’s ok to admit they’re still a dog. A child is infinitely more important.

End of debate.

Yeah the tall white aliens really don’t get this. Most races kill all inferior creatures

So no. Not quite.

I don't disagree, but we expect to lose a dog. We do not expect to lose a child, at least not these days. In prior generations, it was much more common to lose a child -- and far less common to get attached to a dog.

I have a feeling that pit bull owners would choose the dog over their own children if forced.

There are definitely people who see their pets as people, and expect them to have the same rights as people.

I think they are nuts. (And I love my dogs and cats, but pets aren’t people to me.)

I have 2 daughters and 1 dog. I like the dog but a dog is in no way comparable to the 2 girls.. not even in same damn galaxy... and anyone who thinks it comparable need psychiatric help.

I'm well known as an animal lover to an extreme. Had fun poked at me for it. I also made it clear that dogs are dogs. I'd be sad if my blood hound or basset needed an expensive surgery to live but the wife knows, we'd never be paying for that. They'd just have to be put down. I have 5 kids and I'm not spending a grand+ on an animal when that's money I need for the kids. It's not even close, and this is retarded. The death of a child is ranked number 1 on the stress scenario scale, death of a pet isn't even top 10. Christmas ranks higher. Who is devastated for life by your dog dying vs your damn kid?

Not even close.

I love my dog. He get run over it will ruin my day, make my week suck, and after month I’ll have days I don’t even think about it

If I lost a child. That sadness is coming to the grave

Sort of like Vicodin and Heroin. Similar triggers neurologically, but if you’ve never tried Heroin then Vicodin is as real as it gets.

This. No one gets rid of a child because they ruin a piece of furniture.

You’re right. Some get ride of them for a lot less.

I had to wait a long time to have a dog and be a responsible pet owner because of the obligations with the kids, and we all love her more than we can describe.
And people far and wide know our dog and talk about how spoiled our dog is….
And it is still not a comparison to how much I love my two kids.
But I will be wrecked when something happens (or we have to make the hard decisions) with our dog. She is so spoiled on purpose and makes us happy. She has blessed our family as much or more than we have blessed her.
So it’s true that some of us view our pets as much more than people used to but my two kids are exponentially more precious that my precious dog.

A dog will love you more than any human ever will. Lock your wife and kids and dog in the trunk of a car for 3 hours and see who will appreciate you the most when you let them out.

That being said, I love my dog, but a dog is still just a dog.
