Per WBRZ-2

quote:

WHISKEY BAY - The Basin Bridge is back open Saturday after it was forced to close for crews to repair a large hole in the road.

DOTD said workers found "extensive damage" to a portion of the bridge deck on I-10 eastbound near Whiskey Bay in October. The right lane has been closed in the area since the damage was found.

Doesn't it take 21 days for concrete to reach full strength

do we really trust DOTD to have fixed “extensive damage” in less than a week?

That's good, but.....

Louisian still has 1,631 bridges considered to be in "poor" condition.

Probably threw a piece of 2" steel plate over it and said that'll do. That rebar that was showing looked awfully iffy in my opinion.

Not when you use the right additives.

Bridging the gap in the bridge.

I'm happy that the repair is done, but I'm still planning to take I-49N to Hwy 190E should I need to travel between Lafayette and BR during Thanksgiving week.

Just got back from laffy an hour ago. Zero traffic at the hole, it was backed up for 6 miles when I drove west around 5.

But 10 miles later traffic was slow for a few minutes, an 18 wheeler was ON FIRE. Like a Philly Super Bowl riot.

Been sitting over an hour because some assholes wrecked near the end. I don’t know why I ever drive this fricking bridge.

It was obviously corroded and deformed, and had been exposed to the open air and driven over. No human being should ever depend on that rebar for anything ever again.

It amazes me on how many 18 wheelers spontaneously catch on fire on this stretch of highway

I drive this every day, on the truck side because I am in a company car and can't get a ticket. The truck side is the side that was repaired. I am taking 49 from now on, that extra time may save my life.

Good luck. This weekend the traffic for the light at Erwinville eastbound was past the New Roads exit. It was worse in Livonia.

If there is anything wrong on the basin bridge, US190 become almost gridlocked.

They really need to widen and rebuild the Basin bridge.

I drive it plenty, I’ll keep my eyes peeled for a woman in latex in the slow lane.

Not saying that there can’t be more than one, but I’ll give you a thumbs-up followed by a middle finger.

Looking forward to seeing you.
