Are you implying that a school shooting couldn't happen at a private school? That's rich.

No they don't.

The "one is too many" mentality is turning us into a nanny state.

A free country cannot detangle itself from tragedy without giving up 100% of its freedoms.

I say this as a father of two.

My son's school has security cameras all over of course. They recently installed a badge system to where you have to have a badge to get into each separate building. They close the gates once school starts and the only way a visitor can get in is if the office buzzes you in.

Of course a student could always go nuts, but in 10 years of us being associated with this school, there has never even been a fist fight.

I've never seen a study comparing the likelihood of either succeeding, and until I do I have to consider this speculation.

I mean, if you agree my solution would help why not agree with it and then if you also want stricter gun laws pursue those as well. While I don't really agree with the gun laws I've seen presented, because they don't seem like they'd be effective without infringing on 2nd amendment rights to me, I still don't see why the two ideas are mutually exclusive.

As far as gun laws are concerned, the real thing you have to contend with is that a lot of people in this country (including the founders, as the constitution supports this, at least in its current form) believe that the positives of the fundamental rights outlined in the bill of rights, (including gun ownership) outweigh the negative consequences of those rights, whatever that may be. Until that fundamental right is overturned, I don't see how any effective gun legislation will be either condoned or constitutional.

That would cost $562,000,000 for all of Louisiana public schools.

Couple this with armed national guard in the schools and I believe you drastically reduce the risk of a mass shooting being so mass.

Children shouldn't have to go to school in a military compound under watch by armed guards. It's cost prohibitive anyway. Why is it that so many small-government conservatives suddenly want to raise taxes and increase government expenditures?

You've never seen this study because it isn't allowed to be studied, thanks to the NRA and bought politicians.

I love how the solution to guns is always more guns. There was an armed guard in Florida and he stood outside while it went down. On top of that, if there are armed guards, you don't think the kids who plan this won't take that into account? They'll enter through another entrance, they could stash the weapons in lockers, a whole multitude of things that prob won't save many lives. On top of that, let's say the guards do go in and find him, he takes a classroom hostage and now what?

Lot of words to tell us you're a coward.

That’s really dumb.

Because of possible problems with the defense against psycho mass murderers, you’d rather leave the kids defenseless.

I don’t enjoy being rude, but it’s just a stupid way to see things.

Why can't we just ban guns from school premises? Surely the criminals will obey these laws? Surely!

Put a couple armed resources K9 officers at schools. Shooter comes in, send in the dog and take him out while he’s distracted by the dog.
