I think there is far, far too many people assuming in this thread.

How do y'all know it was family members? How do the university officials know the make-up of the unruly crowd? How do they know they were "Late for graduation"?

Alternate theory: It was really just a bunch of poon-hounds trying to get the jump on a fresh bunch of newly minted Nursluts.

Just a guess, but I’d imagine each graduate was probably given like 4-5 tickets for immediate family. But what would up happening is many of them decided to invite every aunt, uncle and cousin they have.

I used to play evening basketball at a high school gym that I had a key to.

It was a quiet 5 on 5 until we invited one dude, then it looked like an AAU tournament.

That invite went away quickly

I don’t think it’s national news…. But it’s also terrible behavior and unfortunate for the folks that were handling business properly on a big day for the folks involved

"This is why HBCUs are better than PWIs, families care so much about their relatives graduating that they'll do whatever it takes to attend the ceremony"

Honestly, what’s wrong with that?

It would seem that people celebrating an educational achievement would be seen as a good thing.

I used to do psychological assessment. Receptionist would say my appointment was here...I'd walk out to a full waiting room sometimes... like standing room only full and it was just one of them getting tested.

The graduation ceremonies are getting wild. I’d be much more inclined to attend these days than in years past. Might actually be entertaining this time around.

That’s what kills me about Affirmative action. Why would you want to increase the percentages of these people in any institution or profession that you cared about?

While the parents actions are wrong and never appropriate, the school should have thought this out and had tickets limiting how many people for each student can come.

People would of been pissed but not surprised to be locked out.
