Then offer to rake their yard. You can't make people do shite on their property that they don't want to do.

Of course I don't expect them to thank me for cleaning my own yard.
I figured it's just common courtesy to take care of your own property so you aren't an inconvenience on your neighbors.

Nature gonna Nature. Deal with it.

I hope they tell you to make like a tree and leave.

Run the mower over them with a mulch blade and tell the neighbors thanks for the free fertilizer, hell buy the old guy a case of beer

Are you serious clark?
If it is in your yard, it's your job to pick it up.
You don't go around to your neighbor's and say "Is this your leaf"?
Man, I am so glad I don't have anal neighbors anymore.
I used to live by a retired code enforcement agent who would measure the boat to make sure it was the right amount behind the side of the house when parked.
Dude would call code enforcement for anything.

Am I being an a-hole if I say something to them? I'm a pretty reasonable person and don't mind doing some yard work every now and then, but I'm pretty annoyed with it. I wouldn't care nearly as much if they said thanks, bought me a case of beer, or done anything to show an ounce of appreciation.
Your not only a a-hole but its sounds like your insane as well. You want this guy to buy you a case of beer for doing your own yard work? These leaves are being blown by the wind. Its not like one of his trees fell into your yard and he didn't come clean it up.
I ask you this if your leaves were being blown by the wind into his yard would you go clean his yard up?

Just run over them leaves with a lawnmower.

Yeah, I got that memo halfway into the first page.
I"m not really anal about much when it comes to our house. I guess I just like a clean yard.

That is your fault. First time that fricker pulled that shite on me I would have him arrested for trespassing. That would be the last time he would do that.

Rake them into a pile right at the property line.
And then...
You are welcome.

So because your tree loses leaves early, you are pissed because your neighbor's leaves are blowing into your yard? With both of my neighbors its pretty much the same deal, if its on your property then you take care of it. Its no big deal. Me and one of my neighbor's have leaves in our yard from a house next to my neighbors. It's really not an issue at all.

They raked a pile for their son to jump on and left it.
This means you deal with it. Period.
Pick other issues to discuss.
Never mention it. Ever. Ever.

I'll admit that's extreme. It's more of a personality thing. I don't like being an inconvenience on others, so when I feel others are being one to me, it irks me a bit.

If I started to notice a trend of it, I'd clean my yard up before it became a problem. I clean up my yard every week in the fall, so it likely wouldn't ever reach that point (plus the wind has always generally gone towards our house since we moved in 5 years ago).

Then why were you asking for appreciation from them in the OP?

The trees aren't hanging over the fence. You rake your own damn yard. Wait until their leaves have fallen to rake next year.

There's nothing to "handle."
Do your own fricking yard work.

You should ask you neighbor to put chicken wire or a cage around the tree so that no leaves fall on to your sacred
soil.
We had this problem with a neighbor and their tree so we politely knocked on their door and explained that we bury our pets and relatives in our yard, thus the covering of their graves with leaves is found to not only be disrespectful but could vary well bring a curse upon their household.
The neighbor put chicken wire around the tree to ensure no more leaves would fall on our sacred property.
Problem Solved.
