Is it possible to run the ethernet cables in split loom?
The off-road / overlanding community that I'm involved with has been researching a more permanent solution than peppermint spray and the heavy duty split loom seems to be an option

We had the same problem but on A/C units. The guy said spray with WD40. It worked for us.

Plastic owl from Academy $16. Keeps rats and squirrels from chewing my trailer wires.

Cats. My inside/outside cats are straight homicidal bastards. I live in the country and the male kills big field mice from up by my shop buildings which border thick woods and in my fields. The female kills every mouse, shrew or snake within a 5 acre area of my house.

I used to have problems with squirrels nesting and chewing shite in a farm truck and machinery that doesn't get started or used too often. The cats have thinned the squirrels out and won't let the squirrels get comfortable enough to do dumb shite like that anymore. Damn squirrels have cost me over $5k damage several years ago.

I'd throw my female up in the attic for an hour or so at a time. She loves to hunt and would kill them. I've trapped her in places before like a shipping container gor a while to exterminate. She doesn't mind because she loves to smell and hunt so much.

If she knows a mouse is hiding, she'll patiently wait for hours on end for the chance to kill. She camped on a mole hill gor two days and finally got his arse.

Have you considered buying some cobra kangz to let loose in your house to resolve your problem?

A lot of modern wiring is soy or plant based, which can attract rodents.

rats love eating the rubber casing around wires. Something about how some of them are made is appealing to rats and rodents

The insulation is made with vegetable oil.

Those little bastards love Toyota wiring harness like pumpkin pie.

Some wire costing are made with soy. Rats love soy.

This is a huge issue with cars. A lot of them use soy wire. I had to replace a chewed up wiring harness in a car I had parked over the winter. It's how I learned of the issue. I have rodent repellent in each car under the hood, and between the fenders and fender wells. I also keep several rodent traps out in the garage during winter, now.

We had to get my MIL a ultrasonic rodent repeller because Honda used something on their electrical wires for a few years that evidently smells like steaks on the grill to us. Mice were going into her detached garage and getting into the AC filter box and trying to work its way out to the harness. Not a good scenario for a new Honda CRV.

We found this ultrasonic rodent repeller and it has done the job. It's not one of those 10 dollar ones. It was like nearly 100. It has different settings and one setting you can actually slightly hear. That has to be like sitting with your ear on a bank of speakers at a Metallica concert to a mouse. Hell they don't have anymore squirrels that come around.

Worked like a charm.

Just about every car manufacturer adopted soy wiring until around 2020
The amount of rodent destroyed automotive wiring harnesses over the last 15 years is mind blowing

I think Volvo and probably other European manufacturers had this problem a lot longer than 20 yrs ago on the ships. Had to put metal skirts around the cars to help stop it.

I run 8 cameras hard wired with cat6 at my house. Something is eating them. I don't want to run this shite in conduit. Would wire loom work or is there something else that would work better. 2 are currently out because of these fricking squirrels or mice or whatever they are.

Pen a sternly/strongly worded statement. That’ll get’em.

Have you tried spraying the cables with squirrel and rodent repellent spray?
