Ok so I just need to go get the tape stuff?
It would be best. It keeps the threads from getting corroded and helps keep it from leaking. But you don't have to put it on there to get it operationable.

We have really shitty water and it's fricking up my hair
A "filter" is just a screen/water saver. It won't make a difference on your hair.

Yes.

Youre gonna need a blowtorch and a caulk gun.
maybe a sledgehammer
first start whacking violently at the current shower head til it falls off
if it takes more than 1 minute, use the sledgehammer to "clear the pipes" by hammering away at the interior of the shower
then use the blowtorch to boil the water that is still in the pipes,, ,,this will losen up the residue hard water deposits
now get the caulk gun

Try the one on the right first
Probably right, since she's a girl. I'd grab the channel locks

Not really. You can get a shower head filter that filters chemicals/metals...

Far left in that pack. Far right would likely also work as well.
Those are vice grips, chief. Channel locks far right.

He doesn't know I'm going to ask him to do this and I doubt he'll have any in his pocket

I know. I've been chastised already, and realized my mistake. Upgraded already took my mancard but thanks for rubbing it in a-hole.

Cool
On another note, the filters aren't bullshite are they?
My friend and I washed my hair at his house and all this greenish brown stuff came out

If he has a tool box he will almost certainly have Teflon tape. Or a neighbor will. It's ubiquitous.

That filter isn't going to do shite except for lowering your water pressure.

Not if you change them, but they are probably a pain in the arse to do so, and you won't remember to do it anyway. From what I understand, they get to a point of making your water dirtier than if you had nothing, so yes they sort of are.

Frick. It says it filters out chlorine and whatever else and I can tell a huge difference in the color of my hair when I wash it at my friend's house
