Why won't you ask maintenance. If brown poo water is coming out of your shower and making your hair look like poo, it seems like something that should be addressed...You shouldn't go out of pocket for that.

No I'm trying not to ask maintenance since it doesn't seem like their job and I hate asking maintenance for too much

I assume you are in an apartment. Just remember that if you move out you will probably have to change it back or take a hit on your deposit.

If the water is genuinely nasty, I would at least talk to them about it.

That is literally a 5 minute job with what you have pictured. I wouldn't stress over it if your friend is decently handy.

Not sure that filter will do much. After you wash and condition, you can do a final rinse of 8 to 12 oz of water plus a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar.

You could get a wet spot. It may just be too hard.

You're right. I don't know. I'm really weird about being too needy with maintenance because i don't want them to not like me

I just tried unscrewing the old head. It didn't budge. I'm fixing to go to the office and ask if it's OK

Try turning it to the left.

Fair trade off, imo

There's probably also a flow restrictor in the new WaterPik. They're required in California.

It's a little cone-shaped thing. Leave it in and the flow/pressure will REALLY suck.

Yep, already has a big scratch on it from a previous removal

Yes. If you're standing in the same spot you took the pic from, turn it toward you.

You could try thermal expansion, by turning on the hot water for about 5 minutes, if you don't have a strong grip.
