I can vouch for this. I’m pretty laid back, but I’ve let her know that if she pushes certain buttons, there will be problems. Almost as importantly, her mother knows the same, and that’s where a lot of this type stuff comes from. Her mother dominates her father. I told her straight early on, I’m not like your father and I’m not going to live that way. Soon after we got married her mother tried to dominate me and we had it out. I haven’t had a problem with her since.
It’s important to be introspective and not dismissive or defensive when she has a legit gripe, only when she is exhibiting disrespectful or otherwise bad behavior. I didn’t know about the emotional argument stuff, but I tend to believe it. Luckily, I’m very light on emotions, so I’ve skated by without ever getting sucked into this.

You have to start every sentence you speak to her with the word, "listen". As you speak you should poke your right index finger into a spot about three inches below her suprasternal notch every other word. This will show her who's boss.

This and what King said. How do men live any other way? Also why do some posters say they’d put up with more bs simply if she is hott? I mean maybe if it’s just a physical attraction based type dynamic, but for an actual long term type relationship, hell no.

As a woman, I will never understand women or anyone who tries to tell another adult what to do or how to live. Tell her you’re a grown arse man and can make your own decisions. Honesty is the way to go.
