How StubHub screws you even more than you thought...

Turns out, there was actually a major issue: Her tickets just weren't showing up when she searched for them, no matter how many times she looked for them.
And that's how Burke stumbled upon a filter that many others are also discovering on StubHub: It's called "Recommended Tickets."
The filter dramatically cuts the number of listings that are initially shown to buyers, preventing them from seeing all the available tickets for an event. It is on by default, but tucked away under a "Filters" section at the top, making it easy to miss for many users.
So anyone trying to buy tickets to Beyoncé's July 4th concert in Maryland's Northwest Stadium — the same ones that Burke was trying to sell — can only see fewer than 400 seats available on StubHub as of late Tuesday. Getting off the filter, however, shows over 1,000 available tickets.
It's similar for other events, whether it's sports games or concerts, as NPR verified when clicking on a random sampling of listings.
StubHub blames "algorithms" when sellers ask why
For sellers like Burke, that can be infuriating. Sellers are alerted that their tickets are being hidden with a message: "Your listing is currently hidden by active filters." StubHub provides a little additional information in another page that says, "Your listing is hidden by the 'Recommended' filter. Adjust pricing or details for better visibility."

It’s their platform; play by their rules.
Hopefully the average ticket buyer is smart enough to play with the filters. I do, at least.

What are the options for dealing with something like this?

So all I have to do is get off a filter to see more seats and not just blindly accept the first thing I see. Got it.

Tried to buy BR hockey tickets for the family the other day.
$100 for tickets plus another $50 in venue and processing fees.

Does seat geek have this feature?

frick StubHub. I had to deal with their “customer service” in the fall and it was pretty much the worst service I’ve ever experienced. It is impossible to speak to anyone and you have to do everything through chat. It takes 20 minutes before you can get through the bots.

I bought 2 tix to the WBB game Monday night for $3/each. My total ended up at $21, no big deal but the fees were more than the tix. And for what? It’s a mobile ticket.

Interesting.. I bet they are actually hiding the cheaper tickets, so they can profit more.

The lockdown they have on publicly funded facilities is outrageous. Its one thing for them to hold private theater and venue owners hostage, that is a matter between 2 individual entities. Its a 'nother can of worms when they hold the local civic center and similar facilities, owned by the taxpayer, hostage.

Be smart and do not but tickets to almost any event and stay home or go fishing instead.....
I have just about quit going to almost any kind of event, partially because of it. I list most of my UGA Season Tickets on Ticketmaster and usually list my SEC CG tickets but if someone I know wants them I just sell them to them directly. I have decided to use them myself instead of selling them on Ticketmaster because I despise the frickers so much....

Yep customer service is terrible. Foreign call center set up and all the employees do is read from a script and follow preset steps to “solve your issue”. There is no thinking allowed. We flew to Vegas and paid for a room, but our concert tickets were “uploaded by another email”. I ended up shelling out more money for tickets. Finally got a refund a few weeks later.
All they did was repeat their customer guarantee: “We will get you the same or better tickets or a refund”. Man i am in town and out some money all ready, I want my tickets that I bought weeks earlier!!!

It’s true. I just looked it up out of curiosity for the LSU-Tennessee Saturday game. Had recommended as a filter, turned it off, and the number of tickets available went from 32 to 77, and also found cheaper seats when I turned the filter off.
I don’t understand how that person wasn’t able to find their tickets though if they bought them. I don’t see how a recommended filter being on or off determines if you get your tickets.

I miss the days where you’d go down to Parisians at Eastwood Mall where the Ticket Master window was in the back next to customer service and you could buy a ticket to see Mötley Crüe with Guns & Roses opening for $20 general admission.

She couldn't find tickets she listed for sale. Her tickets didn't go missing
