Saved up and bought a nice chair and ottoman from a furniture store last week. Got a good price on it. Furniture store is some distance away but have bought from them before and they have good stuff for a lower price than what you get in Jackson.

Bought chair and ottoman. Pulled truck into warehouse, employee loaded them into truck and tied them down. Things seemed pretty tight. 20 minutes from home on the interstate and suddenly the chair flew out of the truck and tumbled end over end. You can see the damage. Back of chair was to the rear window of truck with open end facing gate. Somehow enough space developed between window and chair that a draft caught it and forced it out. Chair was bulky but not really heavy.

Sent pics to store. They loaded and secured it yet trying to avoid taking care of it. They said they load furniture as a courtesy. Yeah, tell that to a female customer who buys two bedroom sets and see what she says. They sent me an email today that said it would cost nearly what I paid for it to fix it.

As far as I'm concerned, they loaded it, they tied it down. I am out my money and have one severely damaged chair. I think they should either refund it, repair it, or replace it with same chair.

What is best way to handle this?

Demand 10 new chairs for the mental anguish you've had over this ordeal.

The second you pulled off the lot, it is yours.

Once you left in your personal vehicle, it's no longer their problem.

Sorry bro. Have it delivered next time.

Why would you ever trust a bunch of stoned teenagers to properly secure your property? I would've brought my own ratchet straps baw regardless of what the furniture store offered

I think they fricked up by loading the furniture for you and securing it. Next time when you buy an expensive piece of furniture, spend the $50 to rent a box truck for a few hours

One time this dude I knew in high school worked at a Christmas tree lot. He waited on our geometry teacher and loosely fastened her tree to the top of her car. He watched her drive away and the tree tumble off the car while she was driving down the interstate.

Sucks but I don't think there's anything you can do. It was in your possession. I'd have it delivered next time.

It is your responsibility to make sure YOUR load is secure. Doesn't matter if the furniture store put it in there.

Never trust someone else to secure your load.

It sucks for you, but you are SOL.

him driving off approved the work, but they should never have secured the load. Put it in truck and let customer deem best method to secure it down.

I wouldn't worry about it. It's just a chair. 58 people lost their lives in vegas a few days ago

If you paid with a credit card you may have some kind of coverage or dispute the charge

In all honesty you're probably just fricked. If they damaged it loading it into your vehicle you'd have a good argument but I'm almost positive they have some kind of clause or policy that once you exit the property, it's your responsibility. Not much you can really do.

So you have some min wage kids tie some stuff in the back of your truck (they don't know where you heading or how far), you don't even check the stuff and proceed to jump on the interstate hauling arse 70mph and now want someone else to pay for the damage??? Da frick?
