I worked for a woman that used to yell at me for not using BLUE p encil. So I'd purposefully use a different color. Everybody in the office thought it was funny becuase she would scream at me in her office and everyone could hear it. She got nicknamed blue pencil lol.

Give an Oscar winning performance in acting like it or he or she bothers you so very little. Act overly calm and happy and a real pleasure anytime you can help the person. When in reality you want to wear his skinsuit.

I did this but I took it one step further before quitting. I was an outside sales person. We had morning recap meetings (about the day before) every morning with this manager and was literally the only reason we had to come into the office. But that was not enough, he wanted a phone call after every sales meeting with a potential client. I tried to explain that I used the time driving to the next meeting going over what I could have done better/what I missed/how I could have closed if I did not get the sale. Also if I did get the sale I used that time to prepare for the next potential customer. So I refused to call him every time. I got tired of his constant questioning of why clients would not buy. So I told him to go into my dashboard and contact every client and offer them whatever he wanted as a manager. If he sold them I wanted the house to keep the commission I would not take no matter how much work or time I put in up to that point. He sold zero. Freaking zero. Mike drop and I put in my notice. I actually believed in the product and recommended it to a family member a couple of months later. I called the manager to let him know (and because I wanted an excuse to ask him a question about something unrelated) and he admitted my exit interview was the only one he ever sweated. He was actually a likeable guy but could not stop the micromanaging. His office/branch closed within a year or so of my leaving because he could not keep employees.
Were you trying to sell something on a troop train?*

Don't do this. Micromanagers 1. Get off on control and feeling superior and 2. Micromanage bc they have nothing better to do.

You're feeding into what they want. Earlier in my career I tried this and it only made things worse. It was exhausting to give them every little update and eventually when I wore out they started asking more questions

Just curious how you would annoy a micromanager. In reality, this person should be fired but the nature of the situation is they won’t be fired. So how would you annoy them?

Ask as many questions as possible and then ask follow up questions. In my experience they like 2 things...the sound of their own voice and having people rely on them for everything. If you can get them down a rabbit hole on a regular basis 2 things will happen....they will be busy and wont have time to frick with you or they will realize that your making them work and thats the one thing most of them can't tolerate...pretty soon they will ignore you and possibly start talking you up to other managers so you can get a promotion and leave them the frick alone. If nothing else you can enjoy fricking with them.

Women bosses are the worst when it comes to micro management

Follow their letters to a T, with documentation, whenever they demand something unbelievably stupid.
