What do you mean? If a teacher wants to grade something where they give you full access to any reference available to get the correct answer, then they have to understand you are going to have access to tutors, peers, etc.
I don't think it should be graded personally, because I was way too lazy to do it
. I always worked out my schedule to set aside 3 or 4 days to learn the material in depth before a test. I'd do all homework plus some in that time to be prepped for the test. I made sure I could derive everything and truly understand it. I knew the stuff inside and out and usually did well on tests. I'm on your side. Nothing pisses me off more than weekly or even daily homework deadlines for a class that has 2 exams a semester. Let me use my time how I want to use it.
If I was a professor I would post all homework for the entire semester the first day of class. If you want to wait until finals week to do it all, fine. I'd be that guy knocking it out the 2nd week of class so I don't have to deal with it.
Especially with online homework. I mean the professor doesn't even have to grade it, so why do they care when it gets done

I really dont think of it as cheating, its more about surviving if you are a STEM student hahaha.

I had one professor who would give the same tests every year.
BUT he would switch the answers around. A would become D, D would become B, and so on. Or question 5 would become question 10.

The best way to cheat is to learn all the stuff that's gonna be on the test and keep it in your brain, they never check your brain.

I don't consider these two cheating.
This is cheating.
The usage of adderall/vyvanse and the "extra" time you get for being diagnosed with ADD/ADHD is the biggest form of "cheating".

Thats one thing that bit me in the arse so much. Why is someone allowed extra time on and still be able to receive the same degree I achieved??????? Subject for another topic.

As a business major, most of my teachers used test banks provided by the text book company. You can buy them online and that was all I studied for 75% of my undergrad classes. Most professors consider that cheating but if they take a shortcut in making tests, I have no problem taking a shortcut in studying.

But you don't learn anything that way. I'm appalled by how people get though college without actually learning new skills. The reason you are there is not to get an A but to gain lifelong skills.

But those lifelong skills aren't exclusive to learning in college. In today's world I would argue that you can learn just as much through free research on the web. You pay the $30,000+ tuition to get a piece of paper to find a job. I almost see it more of an aptitude test to show that you can get through all of the B.S. and accomplish a goal. 90% of the skills that I use in my job have been learned through on the job training.

It is difficult to cheat on an answer to a well-written essay question. But, the professor has to be willing to take the time to grade those questions.
I caught two students cheating (off each other), and, even with cheating, their test scores were still in the 50's.
If you write your tests properly, you can tell as you grade the tests who knows and understands the material.
ETA: It is also harder to cheat on a test that is designed to test whether you understand the material. When I taught human resources and labor relations classes, the emphasis was on understanding how h.r. and labor relations laws and policies work in real life.
It is much easier to cheat on tests that focus on how well you memorize the materials.

There's a cheater in my business class. He sneaks glances at his phone during the test every time
