The powers that be at upper crust krewes that have seen their ranks decline are super jealous of the growth of krewes like muses and iris and Thoth.

There is zero accuracy to this. Most of the Comus/Momus/Proteus/Rex krewe wives are/were Iris members. Until it got hijacked by a money grubbing set. I have never once heard any jealousy of Muses, Iris, or Thoth from any of those people. Muses is a joke to them. Iris - see above. Thoth is a fun novelty. There's some cross membership in KDE, but that's about it.

If anything they were working together. NYC puts out the order and Marcello provides logistical know how because he's closer to the location.

100%....He had to have their blessing and likely help to pull this off. Remember, this benefits all of the families.

Nola's destiny was never going to be one of the largest cities, mostly because of its landlocked geography.

So is Manhattan or Singapore or Hong Kong or Sydney or San Fran. Many are also dealing with 3 or 4 sides of water and mountains and/or major fault lines.

And by that thinking it never will. Maybe not tech but what about oil and gas companies which bolted to Houston? Why did Smoothie King move HQ? Isn't Walk-on's headed to Atlanta?

No mob boss was stronger than Tony Accardo. The outfit was monolific and wasn't sharing any power, unlike the NY families.

NOLA has been in a downfall way before Latoya. Probably, Morrison or Dutch regimes.

LBJ and the CIA got JFK whacked. But I can see Marcello having a hand in some part of it.

He had a nice place at Grand Isle. A relative used to be a frequent guest at his card table, once upon a time....so I'm told.

Powerful enough that I still wouldn’t want to dig too deep into it today.

never got that, I've been down there a few times(many years ago,) and there would be a huge fancy yacht at anchor of the shore and I was told that it was Marcello's bot

I've always wondered what can a person do if his business is forced to pay protection money to the mob? If you think the mob has infiltrated the police, I would assume not much.

Given how the bums and thugs are taking over Northeast Jackson, I'd pay the mob for protection.

Seriously.

They did have respect from the NY crowd due to being the oldest mafia family in the country.
