This tortoise tried to cross the road in Redmond Oregon.
He go hit but survived and the new owner has let him roam his farm, for the last fifteen years.
African Sulcata.

I get out and move them off the road. Did it at least a dozen times this year

I cant remember when but a clemson university student did an experiment studying human behavior with a rubber turtle in the road.
Disturbingly results showed that some people actually went out of their way to hit the rubber turtle.

It should be that they avoided the turtles but tried to run over any snake

Every Single Day multiple times

The road, rarely. Our yard, almost everyday as we have a colony of box turtles that live in and around our property.

every time I can. We have many neighborhood ponds and out lying water spots so they are on the move. even my kids will doit. just help them in the direction they are going.

Last trip to West Texas I found a couple ornate box turtles on the road. Collectors can get $250 each for them. I just took some pics and moved them off the road.

Seems like a rude thing to do to a turtle.

I saw a 4-Chan post that claims the chicken crossing the road joke is an allegory for suicide.
Kinda messed up of you think about that way.

Saw one on 3127 in St. Charles Parish about a month ago. I was in the right lane and it was hustling (as much as a turtle could) across the left lane towards the median. Hope he/she made the rest of the way across the road.

Not as often as I did when I was younger. Back in the 90's was coming back from Blue Ridge and we stopped and moved 6 or 7 box turtles out of the road. The most I had ever encountered on one trip. very seldom do I see one now

I've seen two in one day, never three. You win.

Nah, he just needed to ask Circus Child a question.
