For executive rewards cap is 1000 which I hit as well

Mine was about 120. I did my own calculations based on what I spent on average and I was expecting more. Do they not count gas purchases for the cash back?

I use my Amex for groceries, its 4% cash back. 3% on all online purchases including amazon

Your hunch is correct. Gas costs don't count towards the Costco 2% cash back.

Blue Cash Preferred, there's an annual fee, but I've always out-rewarded it
