Look at people who are ok with $1200/month truck notes

There is nothing wrong with a $1200/month note. For 3 years that’s only a $40,000 vehicle.

The problem is that people get those notes for 6 years. If you need any vehicle loan for 6 years you probably can’t afford it.

I go to the beach because I want to, I dont give a shite what other people do. And my goal at the beach every year is to not see anyone I know.

I go to restaurants because I like the food there. If I dont like the food I dont eat there.

There are different degrees, of course, but a few things I’ve learned:

We’re all sheep.
We’re all hypocrites.
People who deny these things the most are usually the biggest ones.

I honestly don’t care if others approve of my choices whether it’s clothing, the type of car I drive, restaurants frequented, vacation spots, etc. I am going to do what I like/enjoy and don’t need the approval from others. I guess this comes with age but I quit caring what others think / approve of my choices some time ago!

None, I buy the shite I want and hope to never have to leave my house.

Only reason I do is because my girlfriend is a normal person and likes to be alive and do things.

Don’t get me wrong. They are really nice beaches, but at some point, you would think that there has to be something else, but for many, it’s all they want.

I realize I'm probably in the minority but I don't really like the beach. It's fine every 5 years or so but heat and sand are pretty close to my definition of hell

You’re not alone. Hot, sand in everything, and after a bit, pretty boring, sweating it out and nothing to do but sit and sweat, drink, and sweat some more.

I guess when I was a kid it was fun but for an adult it’s not very appealing. I’d much rather be doing something than just sitting and sweating.

Considering how quickly Americans run from fad to fad, probably most.

I never think about acceptance / image / approval when I purchase things. I buy for functionality, balanced with cost. I've never bought an Apple or a Yeti (although I have half a dozen of the water bottles in my cabinet cuz ya'll leave them sitting around my office). I buy the things I do bc I like them. Same w my choices in music, hobbies, people, etc.

I've instilled that into my kids. They are (mostly) not brand chasers.

Ever since our kids got out of elementary school, we don't do the beach. For a quick trip, three day weekend, it's the mountains camping or a big city to see the sights.

Maybe you are tuned into the wrong crowd. Look harder. After all, it's mostly sheeple that post their every move on FB, IG, etc.

I pretty much have to be drunk to enjoy the beach. Its so fricking boring after like 4 hours. But every year, we go because the wifes family goes.

We raised sheep when I was a young, not all of us are sheep (tho lamb is a preferred meat for my table even now)

I think this applies more to the Queen Bees than the Worker Bees. Worker Bees are too busy putting food on the table and they don't feed on the royal jelly.

My wife likes it so I go every couple of years but it's not my thing. Just sitting there drinking beer sweating. I'd rather go fishing.

This year I got a private bedroom and bathroom 3 blocks off Laguna Beach for $700. Will that get me to Europe?

Last year I paid $800 for a condo 1 block off the beach in Navarre.

You’re so tender. I made sure to include US and WE because I’m obviously not at all immune to the influences, but I think what you most object to is the questioning. It’s just about being honest about how much of this marketing stuff affects us, and preys upon human weakness, and since I am also a human, it preys upon my weaknesses too.

You are reading too much into the motivation while ignoring my stated opinions, and all it really was was questioning it, and so that’s what you most object to obviously, me getting you to think and reflect.
