How much of history is true?

How much of what we’ve been taught about history (events, inventions, wars, life stories, etc.) is actually true? For example, the victors of battles/wars are the ones who get to write their version of events of what happened, but how much of it is true? We have writings that have been passed down through the centuries from all over the world, but how much of it can you trust actually happened the way the writer said it did?
What instances of history do you know of that has been debated as true or false?

You’re probably right. Just like Daniel Larusso’s version of history is different than Johnny Lawrence’s.

I think that it’s impossible to ever really know. Collecting multiple sources and reporting what most of them agree on would seem to be the best technique, but the further you go back, along with lack of sources regarding particular events, makes it really difficult.

History, by definition, is true. It’s the re-telling of history which is suspect.

Zero percent of history is true.
History is the interpretation of a past event. By its nature, it cannot be true.
It can be accurate, or reliable, but never true.

The south actually won the war but we agreed to rejoin the union if they let us be better at football than them.

It doesn't matter if it's true or false, according to Biden voters.

do you work in today's media?
example- this is fact: man goes to local grocery store today wearing trump hat and buys groceries for his family of 6 (that was me)
this is true, and factual.
now if cnn reported on it - "angry trump supporter visits grocery store trying to solicit help for a rebellion. he bought fruit and 5 gallons of milk- obviously hoarding supplies!" (or, we drink 5 gallons of milk a week at my hkuse)
one is factual, one is akin to the 1619 project

I would say most of history is true to this point, but we are trying to change it to fit a political narrative in the last 20 years or so. The updated are making their way into children's text books now, so actual history won't be known 75 years from now.

Depends on who you ask. To some, only the parts about how white people are terrible. To those who aren't retards, the parts about how white people are pretty great.
