oh...well no you're not an a-hole at all. I've always hated the "obligation to spend time with family members xyz" part of the holiday. It was one of the stands I took with my wife... we can do whatever for xmas eve and all that, but xmas day we stay home...no getting dressed up, no running to this house, no making sure we spend time with both this side and that...it's a holiday and it should be enjoyed however you see fit...carry on

I knew a guy who lived 30 mins from his mom who was actually living with his sister. He called her maybe twice a year and visited maybe once a year. What a loser. She was a sweet little lady.
