Want to see if I am being Ebenezer Scrooge?
My kids are 3 and 6 and so far it is around $200 each.

No more than $1000 each

Not my department. I save all year in a Christmas Club account, and give that money to the wife. What she does with it from there is on her.

I have a 5-year old and a 10-month old.
The 10-month old, we are probably spending like $100-$150.
The 5-year old, we were going to get him a new iPad since his is a hand-me-down, but he says he doesn't need a new one and the one he has is just fine, so he's saving us some scratch. Love that he's not materialistic, and hope it continues.
I think when it all shakes out, somewhere around $325 is what we spent on him, but I'll round up and say 'bout $350 for the OT's sake
ETA: The grandparents on both sides love to spoil the shite out of them and make us look bad, so who fricking knows how much they are spending, but not my problem.

Usually about $300 but we only have one kid. This year she got a new bedroom set which was way more expensive but she needed it anyway and it's all she asked for.

My son is 12 weeks old. I set a $40 spending limit on him.
Should've been $0, but the wife had to have shite under the tree.
He's entertained by dish rags in his hands. Can't believe she bought him little toys that make annoying music when he hits them. Its like punishing us.

1.5 year old. I spent $60ish. My wife spent $75ish, I think.
Both sets of grandparents have spent $765,789.99 so far I believe.
They are unwilling to listen when we ask not to get him a bunch of crap...

Spent a little over $200 for my 9 month old. He didn't need anything obviously, but we got him stuff he will use when he is a little older.
Pottery Barn Anywhere Chair and a zebra rocking horse. Plus a few small toys and a sippy cup for his stocking.

Not sure why, but this post is just sad to me.

Maybe $200 total on the two.
It’s a small, tiny fraction of what the grandparents spend on them.

I spoil people at Christmas and can't wait to spoil him.
But my baby boy can barely use his neck at this point and has no clue what Christmas is or what presents are. He's entertained by soft things in his hand and loud noises.

My dad asked for ideas for his grandson. I sent him two choices my kid would like. My dad said, "I'll get both"

My kids are just a little older and I usually spend a just little more than that.
However, one big present like a swing/play set or a piano or iPad can increase the spending exponentially.

Kids get too much for Christmas.
My little nephew... Between both of his grandparents, Santa, his godparents.. I honestly don't think he even plays with everything he has. It's not my place to say anything, but what does that teach a kid when Christmas time comes around, he has more than he can even play with?
But I have been to friend's kids birthday parties and seen the same shite. A 3 or 4 year old has a table filled with presents.. and its all kinds of toys. It's crazy.
For the 3 year old, you could probably get him/her a few trucks or dolls depending on if they are male or female. Something that makes noise and books.
The 6 year old. A nerf gun, a little remote control car and a hot wheels track or something..
