I've got a 4 year old and 22 month old twins. We spent no more than $100 on each one this year. Young kids are cheap, dollar tree to stuff their stockings with trinkets and candy. Each got a "Big" toy like a little tikes basketball goal or something, plus a couple other $15-$20 gifts.
That said, we may have spent a little more if the grandparents (it'll be from Santa) didn't buy a giant wooden clubhouse to go in our backyard. That'll be a fun freaking two days for me to put together.

0 because they’re not gonna remember it anyway

Can't remember but it was always more than we planned for. Blaming my wife for this.

Jesus you are miserable frick. they don't stay little long. enjoy it.
I don’t think he was really complaining that much I mean it’s pretty logical to not spend a bunch of money on stuff like that when there’s no way they’ll ever remember it or enjoy it any more or less than they would from what already entertain them. Would make more sense to save that money to be able to do more stuff with them when they remember everything and are aware of what is going on

Way too much. We could have a toy shop.

We got a battery powered John Deere gator for our little boy, his birthday is Jan 7 so it's for Christmas and his birthday.

Honestly, I tune the toys out pretty easy.
It's when they stop making noise. Then I notice and see what they are up to.

The memories are for the old folks.

My 1 year old is getting about $50 worth of stuff. For someone who is excited about finding a pine cone, that should be plenty.

My 7 month old is probably getting a little over that and he gets excited by ceiling fans

We usually do one big present each, and some smaller things so they'll have stuff to open.
My son (8) wanted a drum set, so that was like $350 (honestly...). He said that was all he wanted. He doesn't play with toys, lego's , nerf guns, etc. He's out side playing ball, riding bikes, and when it gets dark/too cold he's inside playing x-box or pretending like he's in the NBA.
So other than the big stuff - we round the small stuff out like clothes he likes, usually a jersey of some sort, gear for his various sports.
Daughter is 13 and no longer believes in Santa - so we get her a bunch of stuff she needs - clothes, accessories, etc. and her big gift was a straighter - didn't know those things were like $200!!
So we are usually around $1000 for them .

This year it’s about $250 - $300 each. They get a lot though and we do a ton on Black Friday to save money. But never have had any really expensive gifts. The biggest item so far is a basketball goal I got for $100 on Black Friday. Once they figure out video games I guess that’ll change.

Out of everything I look forward to with my new child, I think him being excited for Santa in the weeks leading up to Christmas (and the Eve of) and seeing the presents under the tree on Christmas morning, might be my number one.
This is my 4 yr olds first Christmas he's excited about. Its more fun than i ever imagined

My son is 12 weeks old. I set a $40 spending limit on him.
Should've been $0, but the wife had to have shite under the tree.
He's entertained by dish rags in his hands. Can't believe she bought him little toys that make annoying music when he hits them. Its like punishing us.
You sound like a real fun person and a like a great dad. What a miserable a-hole.

Enjoy it ... they are not little forever. I know everyone says that, but it flies by. I went from watching my daughter play barbies and fixing me toy food from her kitchen to her rolling her eyes every time I say some and finding out one of her friends accidently texted her friends mom (thinking it was her friend) saying " so and so is so hot! I wanna nut on his face...".

I bought my oldest (16 yrs old) a new Ranger bass boat and my youngest (8 yrs old) a trip to Australia for a month.

Those ages are so easy for Christmas. You drop two or three hundo and your tree is just PACKED underneath with gifts.
Then they get older...
We spend $400-$500 on each of our 3 kids and the tree looks embarrassing these days because there are so few gifts. Everything they want is expensive as shite or a gift card.
Enjoy Christmases at your kids' age...it gets much less fun in 10 years time
