I don’t know if I’d spend money to go offshore fishing in orange beach. Unless it’s an overnighter that took me back to Louisiana
The only fish I've ever caught offshore from Orange Beach is Vermillion Snapper......all the charter and tournament boats go on overnight trips and they fish Louisiana Waters

$5k for a gulf coast beach vacay is splurging no matter which way you try to slice it.
Do one or two of those things and it’s not easy to spend much less

then prolly 20k on trip to NYC at thanskgiving
I’m a big vacation spender, but this one — why and how?
NYC is expensive, but not that expensive unless you’re maybe staying at the Plaza or here for 2 weeks +

I'm realizing that flying is going to be out of the question.
Spirit enters the conversation. You can often fly cheaper than you can drive... if you dare.

Why? It’s not as good of fishing but still a great time.

I wish I had added a question about income as well. My wife and I make $140k/year combined. A $10k trip would destroy us. Daughter is still in preschool though.
I am a single baw making 120k. Idea of spending 10k on a vacation seems nuts to me. Different strokes from different folks though. Let the ballers ball

We are on the parade route and have air fare for me and the wife 3 kids and mother in law who lives with us. Factor in meals, tourist attractions and I’m sure my wife will want to shop a lot too. shite gets expensive quick

Vacation? Can’t afford it. Thanks Biden.

All depends on your situation.
One recommendation I have for you guys. Whether you are an OT Poor or OT Baller, never let your wife and her best friend plan a joint vacation to Disney World without oversight.
Three years later I’m still salty about how much money I spent. I blame myself.

And every single boat fishes a handful of reefs that are fished out two weeks into season

I’d divorce my wife if she asked to go to Disney

Estimate your budget, then double it.

We went to an awesome resort in Mexico, all inclusive with a private pool, with airfare and excursions for 8 days for half what I paid for that damn Disney trip. I was really pissed. Again, it’s my own damn fault for not paying attention.

Or do you all plan years in advanced for vacations and then save up?
I do - but I plan for a living, soooo

I just put everything on the credick card and make my minimum payments. I racked up a new high score last month!

Two weeks in France - about the same spend as a week at Disney
Two weeks in New Zealand - about what and what
ASK ME HOW I KNOW

My wife likes to stay at the Beach club on the lower floors, family of 4. Fort Morgan I believe. It’s running like $4k for a week in June I think. We mostly eat in the condo, go out a few times, shop some. Probably $2k for food and expenses. I feel like if my wife weren’t so spoiled we could do this trip for half of this and the kids wouldn’t know the difference.
We also will do something like go tour around South Carolina and North Carolina in to the hills and mountains. About $200 per night on rooms. We go mining, go shop small town downtowns, go hiking, vineyards, breweries, and kid things like swimming. Much cheaper if you stay out of the high end places and more fun in my opinion than the beach trip. Again, if my wife would camp it would be much cheaper.

Doing a week this summer that will be about 4k
Got plans for another week on the winter that will be about 6k.
We have 2 little kids.
10k is about 350% of what we NET a week so that formula works out pretty good.
