Exactly
As far as the fishing out of orange beach, I have done very well everytime I have went, like 4 times now

Way down list but save 20% by avoiding traditional travel windows.

One recommendation I have for you guys. Whether you are an OT Poor or OT Baller, never let your wife and her best friend plan a joint vacation to Disney World without oversight.
Three years later I’m still salty about how much money I spent. I blame myself.
This right here, I was in disbelief at how much I spent over 5 days. I have zero interest in ever going back

What’s the best site to book condos in Gulf Shores? I used VRBO and air Bnb in the past but it’s like $400 for taxes and $400 service fees now. F that!

Offshore? Overnight? Inshore day trip?
What did you catch and how far did you have to travel?

looking for a decent beach close to LA for small kids

decent beach
How would you define this?

Gulf shores or further east is what I consider decent.
Good sand, water, condos and restaurants. I find the farther east you go the more the water clears up but so does the price.

Guys I’m not shitting on OB because I go often but there’s much more out there if you plan and look around.
I just did 5 days in the Bahamas for a family of 4 for less than $10k. This includes flights, transportation, lodging, golf cart rental and boat rental and food.
Pick a place you want to go and craft your trip based on budget. I promise it can be done.

Annual trip to the Gulf we prob budget $2500-$3000. That includes everything. 2 adults 2 kids 3 or 4 days.

I mean not like LA but usually limit on snapper, some vermillion , spanish mackerel and last two times caught two big cobia
Good enough. But I’m letting my sons do all the catching so that’s worth it for me just to see joy in their face
I mean i play golf over there too, and some courses in LA are nicer, should I not play golf too?

Answered catch, I did 8 and 12 hour trips the 5 times we have been. Last two times my dad was there and brother in laws and nephew and my kids so was great to see three gens having a blast and my dad catching with my kids. Worth it to me but I understand if it’s not to others. It’s not nearly as good as off shore here but caught everytime

I prefer to do those kinds of trips with wife only unless it’s a place with lots of action but my sons are younger, when they get older…I’ll be taking them all over

No vacations for us or my family. None of us like to travel. I’d rather hang out and watch TV.

I travel for work and rack up frequent flyer miles and hotel points + a couple of free rental days. We use them for weekend getaway trips and family vacations. I won’t drive more than 4 hours with kids.
I have to remind my wife of this when she’s complaining I travel too much for work.

Depends on the type of trip. Camping is not a very expensive trip.
Posted on 3/4/24 at 11:16 pm to StringedInstruments
Depends on where you want to go, how long, what you want to do.
I suggest you go to the travel board with me details.

Some of y’all don’t actually go on vacations with these $3,500 claims.
Vacations used to cost 3-5k, but that was 10 years ago. Easily 8-10 now, and I just spent 20 on a ski trip for a family of 5, 4 skiers.
