Mine is around 560 but that’s for two separate units combined. I keep it on 65 24/7

My electric bill for July on the farm was 38,000

But I'm not replacing what I have because they are not broken, and it would take a very long time for me to recoup the "savings" per month.

I put $600 worth of freon in my old unit the summer before I replaced it. $450 the year before. They wouldn’t have been replaced if it weren’t for that.

Everyone needs to tint all their windows. The cost in the south is paid back in 120 days.

Got a new 4 ton system in May 2024. It gave me some short cycling issues initially but for the most part everything is straightened out now.

When everyone’s home, it’s set at 73°-74° during the day and 69° at night.

Reading these replies are crazy. My monthly cost for electric and gas is between 40-55 dollars per month with the AC kept at 67 mostly, I had 25 dollar bills last winter . Glad to be in my apartment for now. Water runs between 30-50 a month.

I couldn’t live in an apartment. Hell at this point I couldn’t live in a condo with another persons wall joining mine.

How many are in your family? I’ve got four of us in a house with a water heater probably twice the size of yours, and we all take baths/showers twice a day. Wife drains the water heater of all hot water every night. Our water bill is $45 a month.

Only myself. I shower 2 times a day most of the time, long hot showers to sweat it out. No dishwasher use even though I have one.

I enjoy it actually with my work schedule. I don’t have the time or want to do yard work or house maintenance. I’m 8 minutes away from work also so less than 8k miles a year on my car. Honestly the numbers work for me with how rates are right now.

Per UWK

quote:

State regulators and utilities say the trend is linked to an increase in the price of the natural gas utilities use to run power plants. The biggest spike in spot prices of natural gas occurred in March, reaching $4.12 per million BTUs compared to $1.49 from March 2024, though that gap has shrunk steadily since then.

quote:

The average July bill for a Louisiana home that uses 1,000 kilowatt-hours was 8% higher than the same month last year, according to data from the Louisiana Public Service Commission. The figures are self-reported by the utility companies under its jurisdiction.

Providers are blaming nat gas prices and an aging grid.

I got new windows in the spring, and I think they're helping keep my costs down. Or at least my costs the same. There's nothing else that could explain how I've averaged the same amount in June, July and August, whereas in the past, June's bill was high, but July and August were just ridiculous.

so, your bill was $430 for the month. Means you paid $14 a day divided by 24 hours so basically $. 60 cents an hour. You paid a penny a minute and you complaining? Electricity is the biggest bargain around!

Mine jumped to close to $1000 the last two months from avg around $650 a month. Two large units and three split systems. Also have four refrigerators and two ice machines running all day.

I’m looking at buying Magnetite Magnetite Window Insertsfor all of my windows to cut down on the electricity costs in order to get the bill to lower significantly. I had them on my windows in the Garden District and they were game changers. Can’t do solar as HOA won’t allow that to be installed.

I got double paned, and they've got some kind of uv tinting on them. I have one room in particular that gets direct sunlight for two hours in the morning that is notably cooler. We had shades on these windows prior to replacing them and I hadn't put them back up until a couple weeks ago but even without them that room was cooler in the morning.

They pitched that it would impact the temp in the house, but I was skeptical. They work, I was wrong to doubt.
