My wife took care of all of it. She kept a list of who she bought presents for. I think she said 42 people.

Of course many of those were tiny little gifts for co-workers and the 2nd cousin little kids and such.

I have bought presents for 10 people.

That includes my parents, 2 sisters, brother-in-law, husband and child and my in-laws. I also got a small gift for my friends kid who is a week older than mine.

All in all, I spent $2500 with half of that being for my parents (it’s this farm to table meat subscription. They only do like 40 subs a year at this farm).

The other presents include things like an Escape Room gift card for the entire family, annual pass to our state parks, etc. we are definitely trying to move toward more experiences and functional gifts.

In addition, I gave a $500 bonus to my only employee (first year in business, give me a break) so I spent about $3,000 on Christmas. Like madamsquirrel, I start buying gifts early so it doesn’t all hit at once.

The wife and I spent about $1000 between us for each other, plus however much we spent on our parents. But we also closed on a 1/2 acre property yesterday that we paid cash for.

Between myself, my wife, our two kids, my MIL, nephew on her side, my bother, two nephews and niece on my side, I’d say we’ve dropped somewhere in the ballpark of $4K.

Bought mother a cup phone with extender and billet knobs for ~$60.

Bought father a computer for his bike for ~$40.

Bought my niece and nephew (sister's cats) ~$30 in toys.

Bought brother-in-law a $50 button down.

I bought some of my friends $30 gift packs from Cajun Fry.

I'm cheap and they're happy.

I spent a couple hundred bucks. I have no idea how much my wife spent and would rather not think about it

I’m 63. For many years my kids and I would exchange gift cards. It became so predictable and boring. We made a pact to stop the madness. Now we pick a night between Christmas and New Years and go to a high end restaurant and blow it out. We’re going to Ruth’s Chris and planning to stay three hours or more and get most everything on the menu. We’ll still come out ahead.

Exchanging gifts is so meaningless at my age

Probably 1200-1500 between three kids, the wife and nephew
Normally budget about 300 per kid

like most that have responded spent "too much". Really though I don't feel that way because I know the gifts will make people happy and that beats money all day every day. I like buying people things they want but will not buy themselves which for both our families is easy since most of them seem to want to die with every penny they ever made.

Depends on the year and not this year, but some years I spend a lot... however, I have never once felt I spent too much. Like you said, it's not about the money, but the joy you can bring others

I haven’t kept track. Prob around $2,000 for us, 2 kids, our moms, and a few random others.

She has done an amazing job this year and in years prior getting all the Christmas shopping done. It’s impressive.
