And they will get it....once you tell them after you've negotiated.

I don't hold it against car salespeople for trying to make money. It's not personal, it's business. They are trying to get the best sale to maximize their commission.

I apply that same mindset to me trying to get the best price to minimize my cost.

Too many variable and not enough info to give any good advice. I can tell when we bought my wife's Acura a couple years ago, the MSRP on it was like $42,000 and we got it for about $32,000, so that was a 25% drop in price. But it was also during the model year switch over and they were trying to dump all the old models.

Use your brain, don't you think they'll be more incentive for the dealership to sell their car if they know they're getting one back on a trade? You're tying a hand around your back and dragging out the process. shite like that is why people spend 3 hours at a dealership.

Seems like we used to get a GMC discount as a benefit at work? Can’t hurt to check...

I have the same truck but went with the 3.0L Diesel... The best decision I've ever made (so far anyway). I love this truck. 9k off is what I ended up with. I had a lot of equity in my 2 trades too, so a good deal was done in my opinion.

Negotiations are what you make them. Find out what the average price the vehicle is sold for in your area. Send email to 5-10 close dealers with exactly what vehicle you are looking for. Have them fight it out for your business.

Check price vs Laura GMC, if its close you're working a good deal.

Isn't sale price kind of a shell game they manipulate to make people feel smarter than they are? It always seems to me that the dealership is making the real money on add-ons and financing, and if you can avoid getting ripped off on that stuff you've probably done OK.

Now, if you're paying cash, or if you're looking at some GM / Chrysler with an inflated sticker price, maybe that changes things.

You should be able to get 12,500, preferably 15000 off on a truck in that price range. Use cars.com, autotrader, etc to look around the US and find the dealers giving the best price. Then negotiate local dealers from there, then hit regional delears you would make the drive to. Play them against each other and look for the dealer with multiple models of the same truck in stock. Don’t be afraid to keep hitting the sales guys up. Let them know you are serious but you want a deal that way they know they have you in their pocket if they need a sale. To get the absolute best price you have to kind of get lucky and hit when they feel they need to sell a vehicle to get incentive money. Losing a couple thousand on a vehicle can mean making it up ten fold.

This, especially at the end of the month/year.

Bought my current truck (2017 Silverado LTZ , loaded) last day of November in '16. Sticker was just shy of 54K.
Paid 40K cash and drove it away.

I didn't screw with the salesman. Went straight to the Sales manager, told him the deal and gave him one shot at the best price.... no bs, no negotiating.

Let them know you don't need the truck, but if they make you a no-brainer of an offer then you'll sign and drive.

Gotta love all these "expert car buyers" in these threads that pop up from time to time. Auto dealers sell thousands of cars but these old baws always get the best of them every four years or so.

A trick I always use is when you think you got them as low as they will go you ask them to make it the drive out price. Always settle on the drive out price before you hit the finance department. This way they can’t add any mysterious fees and costs.

We looked at a Jaguar this past summer. The interior was hideous. Normally I’d jump all over a deal, msrp was around $80,000 from what I recall, the dealer was willing to sell for about $58,000. We passed - even the New Orleans dealer had the same offer.
They couldn’t discount this model enough.
