Once you find the lowest number, tell them you'll agree at that number walkout. So, if after a couple days you've gotten it down to $55k tell them you agree but not paying anything additionally for TTL.

It's worked for me on the last two I've bought. Once you've dicked them around for 2 days I'd avoid financing through the dealership though, I'd go credit union or if you're a cash guy do that. But they're bound to find a way to make their money back if you finance through them

You've had two separate dealers knock off another roughly 10% off their already "low" price relative to the competition? Doesn't really pass the smell test.

ETA: Forgot to comment on your last line about financing. That's silly. a $55k 2% loan from the dealer is just the same as a $55k 2% loan from anywhere else. It's up to you to make sure they don't sneak anything else in, but they're going to try to do that regardless of where the financing happens.

I once bought a vehicle with a sticker price of $33,550 for $25,200 OUT THE DOOR (tax, tag, title).

That was in 2014. Still runs like a champ.

If you think $55K is a deal, then who cares?

If you want that vehicle for $50K, then shop around. Especially during these stupid lockdowns and layoffs, car dealers will deal.

This is dumb. Don't blindly follow this advice. Financing is financing - go with the best rate for the term you want.

First thing to understand is that $9k is rebates. They get reimbursed for that money from GMC. So you aren't getting anything off of MSRP right now.

If the MSRP is 66k, invoice might be $61k. So you should be negotiating from, at the very most, $52k.

depends on the vehicle.

we're looking at a lexus NX F Sport, which has MSRP at 45,100 or so and I've talked two dealerships down to 37,900. After TT&L it comes to around 42.7.

Now whoever can give me that last nudge to 42 or close enough, I'm going with them.

dealer financing rates are exceedingly low right now, crazy low - I agree with being pre-approved from a bank or a credit union, but you aren't gonna beat 0-2% from a dealer at a full service financial institution.

If you play your cards right, and it is not too high a demand vehicle, you can get the rebate and the promo financing if they know you have a good back up. They want you to finance through them. Just don't get beat up in the F&I room.

They are making money hand over fist and selling above msrp on a lot of models.

Tèllurides are going for 10k over msrp in EBR

Completely depends on the vehicle. There is a website where you can find dealer invoice prices. You have to pay for the info but it’s worth it.

And Costco is basically a no haggle platform from what I understand.

only useful for something like a Chevy Trax. I've seen AT4s for as much as 14k off, but that was a labor day special or something - factory rebate

It appears they are not offering a you a deal at all. GMC is doing employee pricing on Sierra

They are getting paid that money back from GMC, plus their holdback. I would have them show you how much is incentives and then subtract that amount from invoice, not MSRP. They make thousands selling at Invoice with holdback that is included and dealer incentives from manufacturer

costco has no bearing here because they will pay the dealer back on that insentive...

i would say that $57,000 is right for that truck....if you could get them at 53,500 and walk out you should be happy there.

No it won't. It will just make you look like an arse, especially not mentioning a trade in until price is agreed, especially with inventory shortages right now. Dealers need inventory and will want your trade.

Different ways to skin a cat but what I do is get the lowest number they'll offer me, have them print it out with their letterhead and I go home and "think about it". After a couple days they'll call or text and by that time you should've called every competing dealership within a couple hours to see if they'll match or beat the price.

And by that time your car is gone and you get mad that your car you wanted sold.

You sound like a dick.

Tell them you’ll give them 40,000 cash and they have 5 minutes to decide. Write the check and show it to them. Make them watch you start the clock. Go out to your vehicle and start revving the engine after 4 minutes.

You are on the number as long as you aren't getting jacked around on fees, financing, etc. Doc Fee should be no more than $200.

Costco prices are locked. They are lower than internet pricing and invoice, so you have won if you use Costco. If you get $100 lower, you won
