Most order screwups happen on the cashier side. It's food order PTSD. Keep it simple for the minimum wage behind the keyboard.

I’d rather use that than deal with the people behind the counter

And McDonalds would rather spend the money on technology than have to continually hire, train, and deal with those same employees.

Fast food restaurants will all covert to Apple Pay, no cash or credit cards...very little hand exchanges.

No more food in the open served on trays, everything will be bagged and you can choose to eat in the lobby or take it home.

Lobby service will be almost obsolete.

You will also see the back house wearing mask and will see the restaurant industry completely change all together.

Less tables in regular sit down and fine dining restaurants, less servers and waitstaff...things will not go back to normal.

They had those things already deployed in London. Half at my local McD’s were malfunctioning.

I dont eat that garbage but I have used the screens at shake shack and they are awesome. I wasnt too concerned with microorganisms before the corona stuff and I dont believe I'll be too concerned after it's all said and done

You should touch a shopping cart in any retail establishment one day. Any cart in any establishment. Then rub your face or touch your phone if the kiosks at Micky D's bother you.

Touch screens of any type are likely disgusting after a short period of time. Particularly those used by the general public.

Less than you would training employees over the life of those machines. Also less theft from cashiers.

There is always a cost analysis done on these.

I haven't seen those here, but the American fast food joints in Europe have had those for at least 10 years now.

I know they are starting to roll out proximity credit cards to go along with paying with phones. It will be interesting to see the adoption rates now.

Not sure how much they spent. I’m guessing the food board would probably know

What a bitchy response, Paul. It was a generalized societal question and not really food related. Be better.
