Does stopping at road side “features” or sleeping at the rest stop count as you drove across America (no air conditioning) when your father got transferred from one military base to another …. if not …one… Disneyland and we lived at Beal AFB (SR71…:)) and stayed with a friend of my dads (just got out of Air Force) that had a “fancy” house by Disneyland…I remember sleeping on that new shag carpet !

3, if you don't count getting dropped off at my grandmother's when my parents were going on a vacation. My kids took at least 30. Different parenting styles.

0.

My father was a truck driver and worked in the summers. He got 2 weeks off at Christmas was basically his only time off.

We went to Kings Island for one Saturday that I remember when I was a kid, and any other summer trips was a day trip to a family reunion.

I didn't go on a full week vacation till I was 22.

Can't say I remember anything before the age of 5, but after that typically 2 vacations a year. One annual beach trip to Destin, where aunt and uncle own a beach house, and would let us stay free. And then typically one "destination" trip, all east coast, until I was 18 except for one trip to San Antonio and 1 to California when I was 5. We drove everywhere. Only flew one time before 18, and it was that trip to Cali.

Most people I grew up around were middle class and didn't take vacations every year... We drove everywhere when we went on vacation. Even if it was 1k miles one way.

Same/similar.

Almost ALL "family" vacations were taken by car (my dad flew my sister and I to Disney World once, a couple of years after he and my mom divorced).

Almost every vacation involved seeing family or family friends at some point, and staying with them (saving money).

When we weren't staying with them, we were almost always camping. TENT camping from the car. KOAs, state parks, national parks. My stepdad was such a cheap bastard that we'd be staying in a tent in mid-July heat at Gulf State Park in Gulf Shores. My mom would bitch enough so that usually one night on the way home from a long trip we'd stay in a motel so she could take a good hot shower and sleep in a bed.

We were limited by our driving range, but over that time went as far west as Houston (Astroworld, Astros game), as far north as Kentucky & Indiana (Mammoth Cave, Louisville Zoo, Bardstown) and as far east as Cape Hatteras National Seashore.

When I was 12 I tagged along with my maternal grandparents and aunt/uncle's family on a 2 week car vacation around Florida; we visited Disney, Sea World, St. Augustine, NASA, Busch Gardens & a bunch of other attractions, and stayed in motels every night-- I thought I died and went to heaven.

Counting them down as best as I've been told and that I can remember, the actual number was about 11 vacations total.

We went for a week every summer. We usually alternated between the beach and Disney.

Over 20 for sure.

Traveling is a big part of my family and we have been very lucky to be able to do all this traveling.

I've been to around 30 different country.

Very few. I remember taking a trip to Disney when I was 8. And we'd occasionally visit my drunk uncle in Houston, which really wasn't a vacation to a kid.

It wasn't until I started dating my wife that I realized that people go on fun relaxing vacations at least once a year. The first year we were dating, I went with her family to Orange Beach. I hadn't been to the beach in probably 10 years at that point.

"We go here every summer" she told me.

"Man, yall take a lot of vacations."

"Going to the beach once a year is a lot of vacations?"

There were two trips a year for a 7-10+ days each to my grandmother's house. She was a mile from the beach, so there was that. As for destination vacations, we went on several and always drove, but they were almost always to some place where my dad was attending meetings.

Vacations a week in length between 0-18?

Probably 5 a year.

I can tell you on the last 10 years I don’t think I’ve taken 1 that was a week in length.
