Honestly there are SO many variables that the only answer is: It depends

On genetics, lifestyle, sex, occupation, etc etc etc.

One extreme example would be an NFL athlete or an Airborne Ranger would probably have a higher propensity to require more surgeries in their lifetime as say, a cashier or an accountant......

Pushing 66 soon and have had 8 of varying degrees of severity. Mostly for crap torn or injured, hernias, torn ligaments in elbow, rotator cuff right shoulder, 3x right knee, parathyroid removal where they slit my neck to get to them and a fistula in my arse that kept getting infected and needed to be surgically repaired.

I don't count the vasectomy since it was in the Drs. office and only required a few deadening shots in the nutsack, two small incisions to get hold of the jizz delivery pipes and cut and seal them, then close it up and send me home. Awake the whole time and done and dusted in about 45 minutes total time.

I'm 46. I've had a heart cath after a false positive and a vasectomy.

I don't consider either a surgery.

My brother was 49. He had 3 or 4 for colon cancer which finally beat him a week and a half ago.

How was this? I really need to get it done, but I’ve heard that results aren’t great.
I was 100% (as a college athlete) after 4 weeks. I didn't "rehab" per se. I went straight into physical workouts after 48 hours once the swelling was down. This was done at the beginning of my college career. TJ surgery was at the end.

Shoulder scope from bench pressing.

Double inguinal hernia on both sides from lifting weights and PT work in the hospital.

Vasectomy last week....still using the ice.

Sorry to hear about your brother, and still what is considered a young man in todays world. Cancer sucks the big one and I've lost more friends and family to it than I care to think about.

Yeah, not all of my medical procedures I've had would I consider surgeries, even if cutting and stitches was involved.

The vasectomy, a sebaceous cyst removal, and a scope to break up a particularly large kidney stone were done while somewhat anesthetized but really pretty much outpatient type stuff. But man, pissing out those jagged bits of kidney stone they broke up felt like pissing razor blades for 3 days.

Me either on the wisdom teeth thing. I've had 3 removed over 2 different occasions.

As for the ingrown toenail, I've had that done 3 times and the only pain for me was when I was stuck with the medicine to deaden the area. The procedure was a snap and not painful at all. Your Dr. didn't know what she was doing if it hurt to dig it out.

Me too terd.

Don’t ever go out to eat with nurses if you are easily grossed out.

Or vanilla chocolate swirl and we can discuss purulent drainage mixed with stool.

This I couldn't do. I get "grossed out" easy. And if I am eating... It is worse.

Unless you add in wisdom teeth, I’ve been surgery-free so far.

8. All related to playing rugby from 94-08. I'm happy to be able to waddle an 11 min mile these days at 42 and fat.

Eta: i didn't count vasectomy tonsils and wisdom teeth. I was half awake for those.

Battery change out

Will they replace it or just replace he pacemaker. Pulling the old pacemaker and sticking in a new one is a piece of cake. Not so easy to do the leads because they have little fishhooks that grab the tissue of your heart.

IMO they always have a newer/better model that you would like to get. Mine is good for four more years (Had it downloaded today and the nurse said "4 Years") My hope is that in four years they will have a charger that I can place over the pacemaker and recharge it overnight. They have the technology to do that today. Not sure why they don't.
