LSUfan20005 knows what's up. Wise words.

1850, two kids, a wife and two boxers. Smallest house in the neighborhood by far. Love it. Going smaller when youngest moves out.

Why do 2 people need 3000 sqft?

It isn't about needing it. I work from home, and have friends and family that visit somewhat regularly. Sometimes, I wish we had more.

3000 is big for 2. We are in a 2400, 3 BR. Every room is larger than typical (big kitchen, living room, etc.). Master is actually huge...we could easily fit 3 king sized beds. I would maybe want the 4th bedroom, but we could sacrifice space from the other rooms and still add while keeping at 2400 total (Not that we'd remodel, just saying). We only have one kid and a lab right now, but still more than enough space. I'd hate to have to spend the extra on a maid to clean up those extra rooms I don't use.

1800 sq ft. It is fine for now, but if we add another child in the next couple of years then we will be looking for something with more space.

4350. We'll be downsizing in the next few months and will probably rent for a year or two while we decide what our next step is.

2400 living, 3 BR 2 1/2 bath. Very large living room and kitchen. Now with the kids gone it's really more than we need. I would love to get rid of it and move to a smaller house or waterfront camp style home. Wife won't leave though since all our family is in the immediate area.

A little over 2500 living, over 3300 under roof. Guest house around 1150 living, total 1350 under roof.

Just the wife in I. Once I finish out the guest house, we will be moving into it and rent our house out or just sell the place. That will go with 1 1/2 ac stocked pond and 10 1/2 ac.

Thinking of having another house built around 1100 living in the middle of 200ac's.

Oh, forgot to add that we are retired. Well, I am.
