You never know until it’s much later and you’ve improved. Some of us hit bottom and started digging.

Got really depressed once, but I know what rock bottom is and fortunately have yet to reach it, nor do I have any plans to. My absolute worst case scenario (barring a horrific addiction, disease, or accident) is I move out to Vietnam, teach English, and live like a king.

I laid on the floor of an empty townhouse with the moving truck sitting in the driveway. My wife and son were asleep next to me. I was awake posting on the Money Board about how I fricked up by moving my family 1500 miles away for a PhD program with very little income in a very expensive area. I was crying trying to figure out what the hell to do. I decided to give up the grad school dream and move back to my home town.
But wait! That wasn’t the lowest moment. It only led to it.
Three months later, I lived in my parents house with my wife and son. Everyone in the house left in the morning to go to work/school. Except me. Three months. No income. No jobs. Barely any interviews. I had absolutely no idea what to do with my life. My wife was growing distant. Son having night terrors. I was clueless.
Nothing has been lower for me than that. And ever since, life has been nothing but up.

Definitely. Had most of my moms side of the family die within just a few years, injured my back really bad and couldn’t work, had to get on assistance. My dad refused to help, acted like I was a leper because I couldn’t work. His whole side of the family looked down their noses at me. Just made the view when I got back up top that much sweeter because I did it by my damn self. And assistance

Every time I think I’ve bottomed out, I sink to a new low. I hope I’ve seen the bottom, but it could be coming soon.
