And is it worth it to pay money to someone on what you can and cant do on your own property?

Short answer is yes and no

Keep talking shite about hoa’s and the neighborhood watch will execute a no knock warrant

I do. Moving next month to 30 acres.

Only way to keep the trash out

The value in a HOA is that your neighbors can't put junk cars on the front lawn, have their BBQ sitting out all the time, have unkept lawns and trees and plants and bushes.
It's about protecting the value of your house. Nothing more nothing less.

Used to. Moved out into a more rural area to get away from all the rules. Wish they had more rules.
Some of the downright trashy shite I witness around here is amazing

When you have green spaces and lakes/ponds you have to have an HoA to manage, upkeep, and insure these areas

We have one but they aren't too bad. I know they passed a rule recently that if you are going to change the paint color on the exterior of your home it must be approved by a designer. Sucks too because I was just about to paint mine Easter egg blue

We need our resident HOA expert, BRgetthenet, to weigh in on this. I'll defer to him.

Some of you motherfrickers have to have a babysitter to tell you it’s time to pull your fricking trashcan away from the road.

It pisses me off that I can’t park my truck on my front lawn since my driveway is occupied by my boat trailer and the 1979 Cutlass I’ve been slowly restoring.

Got one neighbor that has a collection of rusted up late 90s Hondas sitting all around his half acre. Same guy has a large "burn pile" in his front yard that hasnt been burned in the 3 years we've lived here.
Another neighbor has about 13 different storage shacks scattered along his yard in various shapes of disrepair.
Theres a few rentals on the street that just flat out dont do yardwork. They're both on about an acre of land too. Just never mow or anything.
I could probably fill a book with the dumb shite my next door neighbor does whenever he has people over. Theyve come close to burning down their house a handful of times now.
