Im 50 and I started building furniture and cabinets as a hobby quite extensively a few years ago and it's gotten out of hand.

I have general contractors, friends and family all wanting me to build solid wood pieces and projects. I dont have time for fishing as much as I'd like to.

It's really time consuming. Even finishing every project takes about a week unless youre doing a hard wax oil like Osmo. I'm doing some samples of cherry today in boiled linseed oil, dark tung oil, homemade garnet shellac and a combination of oil then shellac trying to find which one goes best with this particular cherry and grain.

Age 63 here and just got a job. I Marshall at the golf course and receive free golf. Plus I typically find 20 golf balls every time. So with girl math each week I make $120 in free golf and 40 golf balls a week at $5 a ball I net $320 a week. At least my wife thinks it’s a good deal.

I’ve been with my current employer for over 15 years and get six weeks of vacation. I could not imagine giving up four weeks of that and starting all over with only two weeks.

I’m not totally sure what the value of a weeks vacation is to me but I’m just gonna ballpark it and say $10,000 a week. Not only what I need a significant raise to leave my current job but whatever they presented, I would want another 40,000 on top of it at least to make up for the vacation I lost. It doesn’t do me any good to make more money if I can’t spend it doing one of the things I want to do the most, which is travel.

Same

I'm just expecting them to say we are shutting down any day. Makes it hard to show up everyday but I'm still here

I’m 44 and I’m not sure if I could start another gig in corporate America at 50. If things got bad enough at my current gig I’d probably look for a smaller company to go work at to keep busy and make some money to keep my wife off my arse.

I changed from contract self employment to a fulltime job at 50. Same industry and type of work.

The past decade has been great and I am prepared for retirement. Good pay, bonus every year, pension and 401k made the difference. The contract work was so up and down, I would be worried about retirement if I hadn't made the move.

This is old news.

META is building a data center in Holly Ridge (North LA).
I believe this is what poster is talking about.
2250 acres.

Are you under the impression that every job starts you off with 2 weeks of vacation?

I'm starting a job soon and I'll have 4 weeks.
