No, I can slow down but never completely switch it off.

I have been known to take my laptop and put it next to the bed at night in case I remember something in my sleep and need to work.

I’m naturally uptight and worry a lot. It’s hard to relax even on vacation, I can’t sit still very long.

I’ve been this way most of my life but I’ve managed to take it down a few levels. Getting older helps and getting healthier. After all the OT reading I started lifting again and I’m down 50 lbs to 200lbs. (5’11”) cut out the drinking and changed my diet to protein driven. My confidence has skyrocketed especially when it comes to repairs and household maintenance. I do worry less and definitely make better decisions. Relaxing is still a bit challenging.

The only thing that gives me anxiety is being around anxious people. It's cliche, but I really take the "They're starving kids in Africa" trope my mom told me as a kid to heart. Whenever I get aggravated, I try to tell myself to quit being a little bitch because there are people far worse off than myself.

Not really. I'm heading to an all inclusive soon and bringing a notebook and pen to brainstorm my next work concepts on paper. I can disengage from technology and computers, but I've never been able to turn my brain off.

Get rid of your smart phone. You'll rediscover how to just "do nothing" and it feels really good.

Get up early

Realize the worst that can happen is you'll die and that'll happen anyway

Take hope in Christ

Drink and listen to loud music in the basement when my wife and kids are in bed

Sometimes I put on some music and track planes on Flightradar with my binoculars and a big ole whiskey.

Other times it happens at about 3 am after everyone is good and asleep and I’m drunk af on the deck at our camp when it’s real quiet.

Not really "relaxing", but to really get my mind off of things, and not think about any real world problems I'm currently dealing with, I go train jiu jitsu. That's the only thing you think about for that hour or so, then afterward that's pretty much the only thing you think about for hours. It really clears alot of clutter away and gives you a brief respite of stress relief. I also go hunting and fishing, especially by myself. I can do some deep thinking if I want to, or just get really immersed into the activity and focus on the now.

Yep, especially if I'm up early and can take my time, have a hot shower, make a nice cup of coffee etc.

After work when I close my laptop my mind is elsewhere. If I'm painting or building models or playing games then that's all that is on my mind. I used to worry there was something wrong with me because I can just flip a mental switch and have 0 worries, but these days with job, house, and family stresses I just embrace it and use it when needed.

When I'm either camping or hunting is when I relax totally. Also, when I clear brush with the tractor I totally zen out. It's a very satisfying thing for me to do.

I had sinus surgery a few weeks ago, and I had to “relax” for about 3 days. It was the first time in over a decade that I actually chilled out. Like a full chill out. I watched some movies. Took a few naps. Ate food without thinking too much about nutrition or physique.

Kind of sad it took surgery to get me there.

Blessed to be like my pops. Whatever it is, this too shall pass brother.

Don't sweat the small stuff, or the big stuff. Either way it's going to happen the way it's supposed to.

Absolutely.

I can relax so hard that my kids make jokes about it.

I have 2 kids and a pretty stressful job.

I wake up about 30 minutes earlier than everyone in the house and get about 15 minutes of uninterrupted time.

That's about all I get a day.
Are you working 16 hours days every day?

If so, it's time to find a new job, man.

It’s mind over matter. I can relax anytime I want …. Esp the last two years… only thing that stresses me is Mrs. PJ and her health issues. Life’s too short to be worried all the time.

It took me a while to learn how but the older I get and the older my kids get the better I’ve done at letting go of the shite.

I think about the times that I actually relax. I gotta say a good handy really melts me into the bed.
