I've never had a job where it was required to wear a suit or jacket, but have had a couple where a lot of guys did wear a jacket. It never made sense because most took it off and hung it up as soon as they walked in the door.
I'll wear a jacket in my current job in the fall/winter every now and then, especially if I'm meeting with clients. But it's not required. I'm in jeans and polo today.

I'm currently wearing a t-shirt, jeans and Toms
Back in the office or still driving 45 minutes?
And no socks with the Toms?

If anyone comes to work with even their shirt tucked in, they get funny looks or at least questioned
"who do you have to talk to/where are you supposed to go today?"

I actually miss wearing a suit every day.
If you dress yourself you still can wear one every day if it pleases you.
I work in a lab: jeans, tennis shoes and tshirt

Golf polo and jeans most days. Every once in a while a t-shirt on Fridays

It does not do to dress better than the owner of the company. Even if you give him shite for his wardrobe daily.

Only wear a suit when I am meeting with clients

Just remembering back when Circuit City TV salesmen wore a coat and tie.

My first job at 16 was sacking groceries at a grocery store and I had to wear a shirt and tie. Department managers had to wear a blazer/sport coat.

I've had a job where I had to wear a tie everyday but never a suit. Current job is button down and slacks but we can wear polos during the summer.

I wear slacks and jacket most days. Suit with no tie on other days. Only tie when I'm meeting with a big client.

slacks and a button up is a dressy as I'll ever get.. Sport coat in the winter months

Jacket and tie everyday. You get used to it, biggest pain in the arse is dealing with dry cleaners.

Some great advice I got at 18: find a career where you don’t have to wear a suit and tie.

I have yet to come up with a solid, defendable justification for my view on this topic, but I universally hate the trend toward casual dress in our culture.
Work, church, wherever. I wear slacks and a button down to the office everyday, which is the limit considering some folks down the hall show up some days in t-shirts, jeans, and flip flops.
I can't fault folks for wanting to be comfortable, if they're OK with the consequences. But if you want to move up the ladder, in most cases, you need to dress like it.

I wear suit and tie everyday. Downtown NOLA. Brutal this time of the year but not bad otherwise. Get a casual Friday every now and then where we can wear jeans and a button down

I worked for a software company for about a decade and the only dress code was no shorts or flip flops. It was glorious.
We were expected to follow the customer dress guidelines when we were travelling.
