I enjoy the nostalgia of cafeterias. Old school classic dishes so you know exactly what you're getting.

They always get me on the desserts since they're laid out right in front of you. There's something about a nice slice of pie and a cup of coffee, if only I could have a cigarette to go with it.

Any New Orleans posters remember Wise's Cafeteria? I am too young to remember it, but my grandparents remember it fondly.

Used to go to the state police cafeteria all the time when I was working in that area.

They always had the best black eyes peas.

Our local hospital has a cafeteria that has a big public breakfast and lunch crowd.

Luby's is still solid and I'm instantly transported to 1985 whenever we go there.

Aside from the prices...

Piccadilly was going to shite for a few years but they've really started to turn around. I work in McComb about once a month and there isn't much to choose from so I go to Picadilly. One of the few places I can find liver and onions. The bad thing is the mac and cheese is just not what it used to be.

I used to love to go to the one in Cortana as a child. I remember the room that was decorated like you were on some kind of ship.

You mean like a meat and three diner? Hell yeah, son. Not going extinct around here, plenty of good ones.

ETA

And I remember going to a Piccadilly when I was a kid but I remember sitting down and ordering off a menu. Not cafeteria style

There are like 1-2 good Luby's left.

Things really went downhill after the massacre of 1991.

I ate at Morrison's/Picadilly's until the day they closed.

Good selection, decent food, no waiting. What's not to like?

Morrisons was the best.

Lucy's in Bossier City used to be all you can eat.
