I spent more time studying to be an engineer than I spent as an actual engineer. I worked for a fast growing tech company in Silicon Valley, and a lot of us went up the ladder very quickly.
Wouldn’t have made it to corporate without being an engineer. Didn’t need any engineering skills to work in corporate. Makes sense.

seems like half the people on this board are engineers,
I am one of those but I doubt it is close to that number.
Engineers often have jobs that can allow for a lot of screen time and are seldom reticent to share their opinions

The job I have now is a glorified babysitting job that I am trying to stretch out into a sunset job. Fortunately for me the people I am actually working for don't want me to leave.

Work with engineers. There is no way half the people on this board are engineers.
These people are not smart weird
You don't have to be smart to be an engineer...a retarded buddy of mine is an engineer, and he tucks his shirt into his underwear.
You just have to pay for a degree and get hired. Then, the vast majority of them manage a widget or catalog of widgets they know little about, and rely on technicians for process and practical sustainability and improvements.
They just have to be willing to sign shite to go to jail.

I was reading the blue collar/white collar topic and it seems like half the people on this board are engineers, and I'm included in that category.

Civil/structural here
well thats what i was. I am now more of a mechanical if i am anything being honest. at the upper levels this shite turns into nothing more than business management and accounting......oh and some babysitting.
its weird cause you cant make it to any decent level without the degree but the higher you go, the less engineering you actually do.

Well the Engineer thread has now passed the white/blue collar thread it spun off of, so there's a fair number here. 10% of the overall board population still sounds like a lot.
