At 45? That's seriously impressive.

Thanks. I used to bench heavy as shite but fricked up my C1-2 in my neck when I got caught in a sub doing jits. Lost all my strength for almost a year. Most of it returned but not really on chest. I trained with guys that pushed well over 500 on bench and one dude that has a 1,000 bench.

Would love to see this in person. Plenty vids, but that has to be intense.

His name is Tiny Meeker. We used to train in his garage. He's a beast. I think he hit the grand mark a few years back.

Because what would be the purpose? I do deadlifts, but I struggle with maintaining good form on them. I wouldn't want to risk injury by loading on the weights.

I did list that my shoulder press is 225

My clean and jerk is about 255 maybe a little more

Some of the people in here are so full of shite though.

Me just doing light lifts for a photo shoot recently.

PM me and I might be able to help you get past your plateau. If you're anything like me you probably need to go to a much larger gym. The one I was in originally was too small for my ego. Once I moved to a new much larger one, I've soared ever since.

Your numbers are fine and I'm not judging them. Predictable, smartass comments about the heavy lifters and then claiming you're stronger is what got me laughing at you.

Maybe they are, maybe not.

My frame never let me get there. I've always been pretty strong for being a smaller guy but even when I was working our very hard and weighed 160-165 I'd start getting tendinitis in shoulders, elbows, etc when I'd start going over 250 and ended up getting my ac joint scoped. At my best I was benching 265 for a max with good form. Bench was just never my thing.

Many can lift as hard as they can and just won't get there. My coworker has the state record for 165 and the next weight class up, I think 178, and it's barely over the elite number. He lifts with the 205 guys at meets. Elite is the right word for that column on the chart.

My final senior year maxes when I played football in college

Bench 305
Incline 275
Squat 475
Power Clean 250

None of those would be considered elite at my senior year weight of 185

Saw Tony's sleeve blow out when he tried to attempt over a grand at a meet in New Roads. Scary scene esp with the young volunteer side spotters.

And I would hardly consider the elite #s "elite."

I weigh 210, but never got to 390 on bench...

My 6 rep was 315 last year, only 3 rep maxed once at 335...

When I was 29 it was up there, but I never maxed...

Had my back cut up a few months ago, bench is back up to 12 reps at 135

Doc said I can't really hit it for a year

My squat 3 rep max was stupid for years...500+ for 5 years

Bench and squats are the only ones I've ever been "elite" in (while playing football in college and kept up my bench through Med school). Now I'm advanced in everything except squats where I've dropped to intermediate...My knees are cool with that.

Everyone in OT benches 350. Myself included... At my prime around '05 I benched 405 in the rec at about 205 lbs. Now it was ugly and wouldn't haven't counted in a competition, but I had put up 385 beautifully the week before. Don't even want to know what it would be now, but I'm def too old to max anyway

Yeah probably didn't help, I popped the L5/S1 while holding a 200 pound part on my shoulder standing on the tail of a B-52...

I kept squatting thinking nothing of it and my back failed on a 365 squat 2 days later

It's been 10 years of recovery, although I was in amazing shape last year...I was doing 1-legged squats of 225...I never put more than that on my back anymore...doc said no more squats, doing leg extensions, though

175/225...for 18 reps. Haven't 1RMed since high school. I'm a deadlifter not a squatter. Don't think I've squatted more than 395ish for 6-8. Now deads, I can still go 400+ for 6-8 with a complete neutral spine. But I train the movement, not the lift just like I do with my clients. so those numbers don't mean much to meatheads.

Well, weight lifters don't bench press chief. They only do two movements and neither of those involve benching.

I would rather do the standing overhead press all day. It's a full body exercise that uses the whole kinetic chain. That and squats are all I do really. Once I improve my flexibility I'll start doing some dead lifts.

This is why I "train the movement, not the lift". And frick that doc. Anything that could potentially provide risk and they aren't in control of, they'll say "quit it". Every time u sit, u squat. Put the movement in your training to maintain it. If you don't, you'll lose it. Then when you're in a real life situation and you have to, you'll get hurt
